The Biscuit Bar is a comfortable, casual restaurant with great service and delicious biscuit sandwiches and tots to chew on between outstanding drinks.
In terms of pricing, the quality of the food matches perfectly with how much you'll spend, but if you're a huge eater, you might be pulling a few more bills out of your wallet than expected. I'd say that a biscuit, tots, and a drink or two should satisfy the average appetite, which will run you somewhere between $15 to $25 depending on what you order and if you stop by for the weekend brunch discount. Best of all, ethically and for customers, is that full-time employees are paid a living wage, which means that tips aren't required even if they are encouraged.
As far as flavor goes, the biscuit sandwiches are absolutely phenomenal. We tried the F.A.B.B. and the Fancy Chicken and were blown away by the flavor and the texture. I wasn't particularly hungry, but I couldn't stop myself from going back for more once the Fancy Sauce hit my taste buds. They didn't skimp out on the cheese and bacon on the Breakfast Style tots either, which made them rich and filling.
I haven't even touched on the namesake of this place: the biscuits. If you could get a half-dozen of these, I'd be a much bigger guy. They're buttery, flakey, crunchy on the outside, and soft on the inside. I'm thinking about pulling a heist for the recipe, so message me after you've tried one if you feel the way I do; I still need someone with lockpicking skills.
While you don't have a waiter, the service we did receive at the front of the store and at our table was more than pleasant. Employees responded to every "Thank you" with a "My Pleasure," similar to Chick-fil-A. I'm not sure if that's a requirement of the job, or if it's just a courtesy of the employees working that particular day in that particular store, but either way I enjoyed it.
Me and my fiancée agree that this is likely to be a common weekend date location for days where we want to get out of the house in a pair of jeans and a T-shirt, grab a few drinks, and go for a short walk...
Read moreFood is okay- cold brew and regular coffee was burnt and gross. I waited in line again to get a refund for the burnt gross coffee- the girl at the front told me she couldnât because only her manager could- but warned me he was very busy in the back so it would be â quite a while â and gestured at a table for me to have a seat- I was not waiting âquite a whileâ when I had already waited in line twice now and I told her she needed ro get her manager to deal with me now and that I was not moving over and waiting for the whole line to order behind me- I deserved to be taken care of just like any other customer- she didnât want to get her manager so I told her she had better or else there was gonna be a scene- her manager runs out of the back tells me Iâm gonna have to wait- I told him then all the long line of customers behind me weâre also going to have to wait- he stomped over to the register and called me âvery rudeâ I told him the way I had been treated was âvery rudeâ his name was Cordelle. Then I discovered I didnât get gravy that came with my biscuits and gravy had to go back inside- they gave meâ literally only a spoon full of gravy in this tiny cup that was only a quarter of the way full. I we t back inside amd spoke with April who was at the bar- she was VERY KIND AND SWEET And was the ONLY one who had good customer service or acted like she gave a shit- April should be the manager not the man baby that was so rude- she comes back out because cordell YELLED at her to charge me extra for more gravy to put more in my cup- I asked April to please have her manager come out and speak with me because I have eaten here many times and I know how much gravy comes with it and they clearly purposely being shitty to me at this point- the manager is a coward and wouldnât come out of the back after he yelled at his nicest employee April. I got the gravy but the hell I went though makes menever want...
Read moreI've been to the Biscuit Bar in Coppell twice, now. On both occasions, we ate on the patio, which is an excellent space in and of itself, though it does border two busy streets, so the ambience is somewhat lacking.
I've now had the El Jefe, the Hot Hot Chicken, and the Breakfast Tots. The biscuits are large and very buttery. The El Jefe was a solid representation of what you'd expect from a cuban-sandwich inspired biscuit. The Hot Hot Chicken was very well fried, but the hot sauce coating the chicken tasted a bit metallic. The breakfast tots were tasty, but the egg was overcooked and the toppings unevenly distributed (a glop of cheese on one side, the bacon in a pile in the center).
I had a bite of one child's B-Bar Burger. The portion was enormous. The burger was well-seasoned, but definitely overcooked. It was easily past well-done and dry.
My cold brew was good and my iced tea respectable. The kids commented positively on the specialty sodas.
Overall, we had positive experiences here. The frustrating thing is that Biscuit Bar seems to get the "big" things right, then slips up in the details (metallic hot sauce, unevenly distributed toppings, overdone burger patties). It feels like there's an even better restaurant here that's not quite ready to come out.
Update with pics: This time, we had the sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit, the chicken-not-a-waffle biscuit, the B-bar burger, and the loaded tots. This time, the eggs were well-cooked, over easy. The chicken and waffles earned a split decision, with one person enjoying it immensely and the other finding the batter odd and too rich. The burger, like last time, was seasoned well but far too well-done. The tots were flat-out...
