Growing up in Providence, RI this was the best Ice Cream place to go. Left RI 32 years and was in town for Labor Day weekend. On Monday before heading back to the airport I decided to take my daughter to eat some Ice Cream. It was the worse experience I have ever had in any restaurant. Its so hard for me to believe accept. We was seated in a both and it took the waitress 15 mins to acknowledge that we was at the table, the restaurant was not busy as yet. When she came to the table I asked her for the Ice Cream menu which she said let me see if we have any left. She came back with the menu 5 mins later. We sat another 15 mins before she came back and took our orders. If I was home I would have left the restaurant already, but I really wanted to eat some Ice Cream. While we waited for our Ice Cream three other couples came in to the restaurant and where seated in the same area, yet they were attended to within mins. But again I did not want to think negatively. They ordered their food and we are still waiting for our Ice Cream when they got their food. So from the time that we placed our Ice Cream order and the time we got our Ice cream the three couples placed their orders and received their meals. My daughter had asked me when are we getting our Ice Cream and I told her soon. 15 mins went by went the waitress brings the Ice Cream and says that she could not find and dishes that is why it took so long. We ate our Ice Cream, the waitress never came back to the table to ask how we are doing, is everything ok. Once we finished we asked her for the check which she brought to the table. The receipt was not in a billfold she just handed it to us. We payed and left. Something was said to me and its been bothering me and again hard to believe. Yes I was born and raised in Providence, RI. My parents immigrated to RI from their native country. My skin tone is mixed and my daughter skin tone is a little darker than mine for this reason we was treated the way we was. We was the only Hispanic customers there. here it is 2021 and I came back to my home town to be treated this way and did not like it at all. I have worked as a waitress and have never treated any customers different because of their skin tone, race, or religion because we are all Human. Read moreAfter tonight’s experience, I don’t think I’ll be returning ever again which is very disappointing. I’ve been eating at Newport Creamery since I was a very little girl. It’s just not the same anymore. When I arrived with my children, the restaurant wasn’t busy. We were greeted and seated immediately but our table was soaking wet, so wet that we had to ask our waitress to dry it down so our hands and menus wouldn’t soak through. We got our drinks & food quickly but the food was disgusting. We ordered hotdogs, fries, burgers, mandarins and fish and chips … pretty simple meals. The food & fruit tasted old and spoiled. My husband asked if they had bowls of chili and we were told No, that you were out yet my daughter was able to order a chili hotdog? Although, when her hotdog arrived, it looked suspicious. She said it tasted like ketchup. They were out of crayons for the kids menus, out of ice cream flavors, and drinks …I think this is a problem with management. Despite the staff all appearing to be in their teens, they all appeared to be working diligently. My waitress looked exhausted. She was kind despite the demand from her. If I’m not mistaken, I believe I saw her helping the front which left us waiting about 25 minutes or more for her to check on us for the bill. I had to get up to go look for her. I was so turned off that we left to go eat ice cream someplace else. When we left, the line at the window picked up & was extremely long, so I understand that the restaurant may have experienced a rush due to the warm weather but we are heading into the Summer time. Read moreThe last three times we have gone in there the service has been terrible . So slow , wait staff seems unorganized , pacing backing in fourth . Stressed , overwhelmed and not sure what to do first . Some wait staff seemed more busy than others , but the less busy ones did not assist the others . Team work goes a long way . The manager really needs to step up , train their staff better and organize their team . I watched from my table and watched everyone stressfully pacing without direction. Took us 45 minutes to place a drink order and another 45 to get those drinks. And another 25 to get out food we were there for almost three hours . Very disappointed.
Does this location have new management over the past few months ???
I contacted the main office the previous time we went , not one person contacted us back .it's like they don't care .
Come on Newport creamy step it up , train your mangers better so they can train their staff better , a well trained staff , we'll be a better team ...and only bring u more $$$ If a place like friendlys , TGI fridays , and others can go out if business a small chain like newport creamy can to .
