Logan Street is the lunch and dinner component of the new Carboy Winery complex which also includes a wine bar, a tasting room, and Ivy on 7th, a breakfast and brunch spot. Logan Street occupies the space of the old Governor's Park bar. The dark and grungy bar has been totally transformed into a sleek, bright, and comfortable space featuring dramatic skylights and many large windows. Next summer an enclosed courtyard will be completed, but right now there is a large dining space, a huge function room, a beautiful bar with bar and table seating, and a cozy lounge area. There is also a nice outside patio along Logan Street. The designers sensibly built an enclosed entryway to keep drafts out of the restaurant. We popped through that and were immediately greeted by a charming hostess. We then met Mark who took very good care of us and explained lots of details about the menu, the wines, and the complex. He offered samples of the Carboy red and white blends. These were both excellent and provided a nice introduction to the winery. I will definitely need to check out the (gorgeous!) tasting room. I ordered the pulled shortrib sandwich with a side of the white bean and kale soup. My friend had the garlic and tomato flatbread with the optional prosciutto. The prosciutto had been cut into small strips and fried so it became an incredibly tasty version of bacon. He pronounced the flatbread fantastic and ate every speck of a large serving. The shortrib was lightly Morrocan-spiced with a charred tomato and scallion chutney; served on crusty slices of ciabatta. The sandwich was very tasty. Unfortunately, the shortrib had been left very juicy and the juices soaked even the robust ciabatta, leaving the bottom half of the roll soggy. This would have worked much better if the meat had been dried out a bit and the sandwich served au jus. I was not a fan of the white bean soup. The ingredients just hadn't jelled. The beans were on the hard side of al dente and the bean to kale ratio was too much in favor of kale. The croutons were already soggy by the time the cup made it to the table. Things would have been much improved if the soup had simmered for several more hours. It really tasted as if the ingredients had been hurriedly thrown together. We enjoyed our lunch. The space is great, the staff was terrific, and the food was mostly quite good. Perhaps the kitchen needs just a little more attention to detail.

This seems like a great place to grab appetizers and drinks, but maybe not our top pick for a full meal. The roasted carrots had good intentions but were somehow simultaneously soggy and burnt. We enjoyed the Sicilian-style meatballs and spicy garlic shrimp though. Some dishes also seem to be trying pretty hard - like the lamb chorizo tostada. I was excited to try it and then was a little let down seeing it come out from the kitchen. Don't get me wrong, it was tasty and flavorful but something about being served a single tostada on a tiny plate that way is just a tad strange. It felt like they should come out in trios or something. We were both excited for the main courses - he chose the braised lamb cannelloni and I chose the grilled porterhouse pork chop. My partner was a bit disappointed, expecting a hearty bowl of pasta and instead getting a tiny casserole dish of overcooked pasta with some bread on the side. And I was just a little sad to see that my pork chop didn't have some char/sear happening on the sides or edges. My partner also found the glass that the specialty gin & tonic was served in a little off-putting, but that's just because he believes drinks should come in their classic glasses. He loved the twist they put on it in terms of flavors though, and I enjoyed my espresso martini. It wasn't a bad experience (and our waitress Grace was beyond lovely) but as far as birthday dinners go it wasn't one I think I'll remember a decade or two from now.

We'd love to love it! But... feel like the fair rating would be 3.5. We really liked the place, it's great atmosphere and good service, but unfortunately the food was slightly underwelming. Shrimps, even with the gluten free bread we requested, were probably best part of the meal; oily but spicy, really good taste, would definitely have again. Rigatoni mezze - ordered in gluten free version and with chicken; frankly would be better without chicken, or any alternative additions; very good but also very rich/creamy which made it difficult to eat a lot. Pork chop - unfortunatelly veggies were better than the meat. Cheesecake was fine, a bit too sweet, lemon was not noticeable, in general not bad, but also nothing great. Wines were a bit disappointing too... Overall we liked the place so much we kinda wanted it to be better - seems like a great spot, but the food is missing a bit too much at the moment.

The food was pretty good, but the ambiance and service kind of left us scratching our heads.

My dining partner and I had both been to Govs Park Tavern over the years and were sad to see it go, but I am also a food and wine lover so I was excited to try Logan Street out. Unfortunately, I don't feel like it is living up to the hype. The food was definitely the star here and I usually let that drive the review, but we both left the dinner feeling like we didn't get the experience we thought we were going to have.

They redid the interior and it looks totally different, but to that same detriment, it seemed stark and hollow or lacking. The tables and chairs felt like we could be at a chipotle as well as the flooring and lack of fabric anywhere. We were looking for lush booths or intimate seating. Instead it felt like an american bar. The lack of fabric anywhere (no carpet, seating, table clothes, sound panels, nothing) made us feel like we were at a cheap dinner. This also aided the terrible acoustics. You heard everything going on and they had some pretty bad random pop music playing that did not fit the vibe whatsoever.

Then there was the service. It was informal at best. I like a casual dining spot as much as a formal one, but the service was just amiss. It wasn't that it was bad service, again, it just didn't seem to suit the food and the hype. The servers felt inexperienced and unsure in general. We felt it would have been a much better experience if they would have been a little more friendly, present, and formal.

The food was the shining star in this experience which is what you hope for. The fried Feta, artichoke hearts, and spicy meatballs were all very good. The Cavatelli and butternut squash was delightful and my braised lamb cannelloni hit the spot! I would order everything again.

All in all, I gave it 3 stars because there has been a lot of press about this restaurant and I had high hopes, but it fell short. Considering they gutted the place, they could have been more thoughtful about the dining space. I appreciate the modern feel, but when you think of Mediterranean food, you think of cozy small restaurants with a family feel and this just misses that mark completely. I also feel the service is just not the caliber it should be for this style of restaurant and price. Wonderful food though, I still recommend checking it out...

I'll start by saying its on us for not calling ahead for a large party. however once I found out we did not make reservations for our part of 25 I rushed down to see if our group was possible. Lucky for us the place was pretty much empty on a Tuesday with many seating options for our group. I chatted with the Hostess who alerted the manager to our needs, and that is when I was ready to just turn around and find somewhere else, and would have if our group wasn't already on their way. He was rude, condescending and would not let our group sit together, even though there was only 4 other people in the place. there was plenty of options. It made no sense other than what he may have felt blindsided and wanted to make some power point that he was in charge and punish us for not calling ahead, which he alluded to.."well you could have had that if only you called". We had a couple people come in late that sat at a table next to us, that wasn't designated by him for our group, when he saw this he ran over to tell our group to move and go to our tables that he was getting ready to sit people there - there was nobody waiting and for the next hour nobody sat at that table. complete a... well you can fill in the rest. I will never take our office there for happy hour again. we would have stayed even longer but wanted to go somewhere else more hospitable, which we did. you and your waiter (who was fantastic, this review is about you manager) lost out on even more money because of your rotten attitude. You got my $900 this time, but it will be the only time.

Food was good waiter was...
