TLDR: new pizzeria that still needs to work out some kinks. Hour wait for two 12-in pizzas that were undercooked and just okay bruschetta. Was excited to try Rosso Pomodoro for the first time seeing how Denver was their first US location. Went on a Sunday evening around 545p. We placed a take out order for a margherita pizza, pepperoni pizza, and bruschetta. I noticed many people were still waiting to get their orders even though it wasn't too crowded when we arrived. Figured they were a little behind and it might take some time to get the food - totally understandable, BUT didn't think it would be 50ish minutes...and that was BEFORE checking on the status of my order (yes, I was very patient). Even after checking, I waited another 10-15 minutes before getting my food. Looked like one of the runners made a mistake and gave one of our pizzas away to another customer so they had to remake ours. We were so hungry - my husband ate a pepperoni slice on the way home and it was undercooked and a bit bland. I tried my margherita pizza at home. The flavor was decent, but it also had undercooked dough in the middle and basil tossed on one side (just enough to cover a slice). The buschetta was underwhelming as well. We really enjoy neapolitan-style pizza and the simplicity of the ingredients so we were disappointed in this experience. Perhaps we went on a bad night and they were rushing the orders, but for the price point and the company orginating from Italy, we had high hopes. Hopefully they will work on the kinks and get a better flow going, but we probably won't be back or maybe will wait some time until they're more established.

I popped in to Rosso Pomodoro because I was early for my hair appointment next door at Drybar. At 2:30 on a Monday, the restaurant had about 7 guests total. When I walked in, I was greeted with a menu and directed to the counter to order. I ordered the signature margherita pizza and prosecco. Both were out to my table within 5 minutes. I asked if they had any sauce for my crust, and Brent said he made a Parmesan sauce that he thought I would like. It was delicious! Brent checked in with me once or twice while I was dining alone at the counter. I laughed and said, "is it okay that I ate this entire thing by myself!?" 🤣 It was delicious! He also brought me a little packet of honey for my remaining crust, since I had mentioned it at the counter. All in all, this was a really lovely experience. My pizza was great, the service was attentive, even though it is fast/casual (ordering at the counter) I was surprised at the service for a more casual place like this. I will certainly be back!

We visited your restaurant today 6/29 and ordered 4  pizzas. Unfortunately they were burned and soggy. Took 40 min to get our food. We mentioned it to your server Margo and she acknowledged they were burned. She took my daughter’s pizza back and made her a new one. On our way out we let Margo know we were disappointed after making a long trip with my family to visit your restaurant. This was not directed at her. It was in fact a polite, respectful observation/comment . Margo’s response was “  sorry you took a long trip, you don’t have to come again and this is how we make our pizzas” I can forgive pizza being burned, but being disrespected in this manner is not acceptable and uncalled for. You bet we will not be returning How disappointing to be treated this way. *** Pizzas were burned and soggy

Update 08/09/2024

Huge improvement from last experience - Outstanding service, friendly staff, fast food preparation, and they have their wine/beer license!

Ordered a veggie pizza to go and a spritzer while I waited, perfect timing, staff was very friendly and helpful, happy to update my review to 5 stars and will definitely be back.

Very grateful to have a restaurant with comfortable terrace dining within walking distance .

Original exp follows below

Amazing food, incredible location, good terrace, questionable order / ticketing system / experience

While the experience was a 3.5-4 out of 5, mainly due to the service leaving some things to be desired, the quality of food was excellent and I will be back.

Outside of the Eataly chain (which are incredible), Rosso Pomodoro opened it’s debut, standalone, USA location a block from my condo. After seeing it packed full of people many, many times, I knew I had to give this place a try.

I made a point on this initial visit to ask a few folks eating on the terrace how their meal was; everyone gushed about how good it was, and they did not oversell it.

Rosso Pomodoro raises the bar for ‘neighborhood pizza’ – quality ingredients, superb preparation/cooking, absolutely delicious. If you want good pizza, go here. It’s great. Every bite. In comparison to pizza i've had in Italy, this is incredibly close.

They are still working through their liquor license/permitting, so we unfortunately were unable to enjoy a glass of wine with our meal, but perhaps in the near future.

Food delivery and timing – there is clearly some obvious kinks in their online ordering / ticketing / serving system.

We ordered a bottle of water, an appetizer, and 2 pizzas. Our food was delivered in the following manner – Pizza, Appetizer, Water (only after we asked for the water we ordered), and then a long delay for the 2nd pizza (which was the simpler of the two….) – The restaurant made an attempt to explain the delays (or forgetting our water entirely) on a ‘rush’ that arrived well after we put our order in.

Then there was the supervisor/manger that felt the need to obnoxiously over-rev the engine of their red BMW, viewed stop signs as optional (a concert had just let out when he left, and there were loads of people crossing streets/walking as they barely paused for them) – and continued to rev the engine down the street…

If the proprietors / operators are reading this, your food is incredible, your wait staff needs some real leadership/management and support, and please get the online ordering/ticketing system dialed in. Earlier in life I worked in a few pizza places and understand the dynamics of a pizza kitchen, these should be easy fixes once the right management is in place – I would love to come back and re-review the experience should you make...

Horrific customer service experience. As a new restaurant in the area and “the first location in the states” you would imagine that they would want to give their customers a great experience but to my surprise they really don’t care. I spent close to $45 for 2 personal size pizzas and even included a tip, which is absolutely baffling. They took my name down with the order and I waited at the table right in front of where they make the pizzas. I saw them making pizza after pizza and patiently waited for my name to be called. 15 minutes went by and nothing, kept waiting. I made eye contact with everyone and no one even paid any attention or asked me if I was waiting for an order. Do you think someone just sits there endlessly not waiting for some kind of food? I don’t understand. After 25 minutes of me waiting and making eye contact with everyone, even the man who looked in charge (?), I approach the front and ask how much longer will it be for my pizzas. The man in charge says “ oh a couple of minutes, you only have the tiramisu right?” Wrong, I ordered 2 pizzas about 20 minutes before I ordered the tiramisu. Then a young man pulls my two pizzas from a shelf by the wall. They had been sitting there for nearly half an hour and were cold and gross looking. I asked them why they didn’t call my name out, I was sitting right there waiting the whole time. The older man says “where were you?” I tell him I was sitting right there in the front and you walked by me several times. He responds with “ I didn’t see you”. I was absolutely livid. No accountability or empathy. Do you think you’ll do well in this city just lying to people’s faces? Also “seeing me” has nothing to do with the fact that you didn’t call my name out and my pizzas were sitting there for 30 minutes. Not an apology, nothing. They didn’t even offer to make me new pizzas. Unless they contact me to somehow make this horrific experience right, I will never be going back. Absolutely disgusted with the management and lack of awareness by the staff. The man that took my order was just staring off into the distance and didn’t even care to notice I had been there for far too long nor did anyone else. Pizza was cold, soggy, and disgusting. Maybe fresh would have been better. I hope they make this right because this experience...
