In a time and age where convenience is a standard; I think most of the people who work in the fast food industry think they are low wage earners that don’t get paid enough, work too much for too little and feel they have no opportunities because it’s a dead end job. It is unfortunate that today, with the pandemic of COVID-19 that they either feel the same way or that they just don’t care at all. I’m thinking the later!
The people working in the fast food industry should be thankful that they are working. There are thousands of people who have been forced to stay at home because they are “Non-Essential”. This includes people of all classes including those that are college educated and “white-collar” workers. This is their (fast food workers) moment to SHINE. This is their opportunity to show the entire world they are not a lower class of people. They are not working this job because they have no other opportunities or that they are uneducated or that they are incapable of having the skillset to earn a “better job”. Fast food industry workers are people too and should get the respect they deserve from everyone, regardless of social classes. Instead, at least here at the Boston Market in DeSoto, they are still FAILING at being capable of doing their jobs.
For instance, I showed up today and placed my order. Initially, the individuals voice was barely audible. But I understood enough to place my order. I was mostly through ordering and the voice came back at me saying: Can you repeat the order?
This always bothers me when they do that. Their only job is to listen to the patron on the other end and repeat back. How difficult is that? … Clearly more difficult than you would think. Anyway, I state my order again and then low and behold, the order is read to me wrong. When I correct this individual so that I don’t get the wrong order, that’s when I start getting attitude. You know if you hate your job so much why don’t you quit?
Anyway, I arrive at the window to pay and all I get is your order will be $xx.xx. Not a greeting, not a smile, no small talk … NOTHING. Now to the next issue. Attention to detail. This is all too common at all fast food places, not that I would expect anything different here. But again, this is the fast food industries moment to shine. This individual pours my drinks and undoubtedly spills a little bit of soda on the side of the cup. I really hate it when they don’t clean it off because it gets syrupy residue in the cup holders. So as this person hands me my drinks I take an already prepared paper towel out and dry both cups off before placing them in my vehicle. I guess this made this individual mad because it now turns into a silent treatment game and an ugly look. Anyway, as I’m handed my order, I politely say thank you and in return … you guessed it – NOTHING.
You know customer service is no longer the norm when it comes to fast food. I only see it in a few places; Chick-fil-a, In and Out Burger, Freddys … just to name a few that make an effort and it shows. The Boston Market in DeSoto clearly has low standards for the franchise and the staff they hire. It does not care about professionalism, attention to detail, accuracy, good communications, courtesy and clearly not customer service. They make food and people come so why should they be nice? Why should they care? They did their job ... right? Well, when you do the bare minimum you get the ratings expected, which is mediocre or less. And that’s what they deserve.
I’m not saying I’ll never go back to this location because I would be lying if I said otherwise. I mean food is food. But you also expect more than just receiving a bag of food per request. I just wanted to inform the masses of what they can expect if they go there, which includes: • Communication is poor (they don’t listen) • They cannot get your order right the first time • They are not courteous (they don’t thank you for being a patron or visiting) • They are messy • They can get an attitude
So this is what I...
Read moreThis location is always slow, slow! Drive thru super super slow. 40 min waits for chicken. Store smells horrible! You can smell it straight through the mask!🤮
Updated review 3 years later. There was no one in the drive-through nor in the store so I told my husband let’s go in the inside cause we need to see what we are being served. When we saw the food we understood why it was empty during dinner rush-hour. This building is so rundown and disgusting it need to be torn down. They need to start over or just close it completely. Whoever owns the store has really let it go and it’s a shame. I felt sorry for the workers that has to work there. Never in my life have I had nasty cream spinach or sweet potatoes from a Boston market. Those have always been my favorite. My husband and I spent $27 and we could not even finish that food. I didn’t even wanna go back to get a refund and make the employees feel worse than they already feel for working in that dump. The owners or corporate should feel embarrassed. This is literally one of the worst restaurants I’ve ever been in, in 2023,24 or 25!!! I’m pretty sure there has been no health department visits there in years....
Read moreThis location is not even worth the electricity!! My last review was 7yrs ago and I gave 5 stars and I have been thoughout the yrs since. Although it's been some time I expected the same great quality and experience. I stopped in yesterday for rotisserie chicken, sweet potato casserole and creamed spinach. After placing my order via drive thru when I got to the window I knew this was not the same place. RED FLAG #1. There was a sign posted that said FREE delivery in DeSoto. Not that it's uncommon but typically announced on the website and not posted. RED FLAG #2. I was handed my order in a black plastic bag. Not a Boston Market white bag with logo. This was screaming "yeah, we cutting corners". RED FLAG #3. I arrived home to find my food in a black styrofoam container. Like someone packed me a to-go plate from a family bbq or picnic. RED FLAG #4. The Food. The sweet potatos were dark which means they've been sitting and they're old. Same for the creamed spinach and the chicken was dry. I find it difficult to mess up chicken but this place succeeded hands down. It was terrible.
Very distasteful. Very disgusting. Very disappointing. Very...
