I really wanted to like this place but after 2 visits, we won't be going back. Food is meh and very unrefined for the price - flavorless, poor presentation, and in my case, overcooked. We went there last night for dinner and it was such a crummy experience...really a bunch of little and not so little things that after awhile are difficult to look past, esp since the food was disappointing. It started from the get go...I was handed a dirty, sticky menu, which was acknowledged but not swapped out with a clean one.
Overall, the food was inconsistent dish to dish and visit to visit. I think the steak frites I had last night were frozen from a bag, they were definitely different from the ones we were served a couple of weeks ago on our first visit. The service on our first visit was much more polished - it was terrible on this second visit. The first couple of drinks that we tried to order, we would wait and then be told they didn't have that or didn't know how to make it. (?) Acted put out when we asked for a fork, drinks very slow to arrive. Basically, the server seemed new/awkward/apathetic/overwhelmed. I think all 4 adjectives apply but it made for a not so nice evening out. The food was so mediocre that we didn't finish anything and we declined to take home any of the leftovers...
Being seated on the balcony on a lovely late fall evening was nice and the best part of the experience. Interestingly, we had planned on going to dinner at another local restaurant that we really like but they're unfortunately closed on Tuesdays. So...we wandered over to Bleuroot. During a lull in the conversation while waiting for our food, we overheard a manager (possibly the owner) dissing 2 other local restaurants including the 1 we originally planned to visit. It was very uncool/unprofessional - I think these folks are first time restaurateurs and IT SHOWS. Like, dude, catch a clue...your food is not that great...and you need to properly train your staff or get someone in there who knows how to actually run the front of the house. This restaurant has been open for over 2 years now, I don't think much can be attributed to "newness" anymore. Last night we observed that the owners/managers seemed more interested in schmoozing with their friends than making sure the restaurant was running smoothly.
If you're really into food and expect quality for your money, you will be disappointed. We were fooled by the space, it's beautiful but sadly the food being served there is a poor match. If you're going to bring someone here for a date night or to otherwise impress them? Don't. Go somewhere else. There are plenty of better restaurants to choose from in downtown...
Read moreOkay now usually I wouldn't give it a two-star and wasn't there personally but my friend went ahead and went there and brought me back something to eat considering I was in the middle of writing another review for place and after I hadn't I've been hovering over the bathroom all day puking from a burger that one's I guess cooked medium I don't exactly know when dancing was basically tasted like it was charbroiled unleashed with gasoline at that point I mean the fries are bad which is why I'm not giving it up 1 and from what I can understand everything else was fine I just really wouldn't suggest any way to get a burger medium there is God I still feel sick and it's been like 2 days since I've ate the damn thing just looking in the direction of the garbage can makes me want to vomit I don't necessarily like giving these kinds of reviews just because it kind of annoys what my I guess you would call conscience this point interview place I haven't been first-hand but there's only one other place that is made me feel this way and they got shut down so I'm just kind of trying to write this is a general warning hello I don't know if it was just my burger in particular or something went wrong but I just got to ride it from my now if I was there and personally I could give you a more in-depth look cuz as far as I can tell the place looks nice all the stuff looks nice it's just I can only base it off of the food I've had and from what I can tell this is the place where they went they might be wrong I'll change it if so but that'll have to wait till I get back from my trip and after I had so many recommendations to go look at this place by my friends and some other people I bumped into who do the same thing as me are more highly noted but another words that's about it all I can give you please don't take this as my vien Dolby all of this place the reviews are mostly five star for this and I can see why just from the pictures alone don't four people on there who just read one review and think I don't know if this one review is bad unless it's the only review on there take a look at the others just to make sure that you're not missing out on something cuz one bad experience may not be the regular happenings of the place I urge you to take a look at some Lauren base off of...
Read moreThis was our spontaneous and random choice off of Google maps since we were in the area yesterday for lunchtime. The menu online intrigued me especially when I saw shrimp avocado ceviche which my husband loves. I was delighted at seeing Farm to Table which in my opinion will be a higher quality protein for my money.
The hostess quickly sat us at a quaint wrought iron table on the upper balcony overlooking the beautiful river walk. We were provided the drink list as well as food menus. The mixed speciality drinks were a bit steep starting at $12 and up. So we opted for a White Claw and Corona priced right on par with other restaurants. As an appetizer we ordered the ceviche of course, an entree of the Bleuroot Signature Burger, and a create your own chicken sandwich. The sandwiches all come with a side which is a variety of options and we both agreed we needed the mac and cheese to satisfy our tastebuds. The ceviche was ordered and devoured as fast as it was handed to us. The sweet and fresh assortment of chopped shrimp, lime juice, onions, minced peppers, and avocado delivered with 3 small crackers was decadent! My only complaint that for $12 more chips should have been plated when you're sharing with another person. My burger was a perfect medium rare as requested and topped with a gooey blue cheese and carmelized onions on a brioche bun. I could seriously go for another right now and I'm not a big beef person!! He received his fresh chicken sandwich with cheddar cheese, jalapenos, and something else but couldn't tell you what. It came nestled in a focaccia bun and when asked how it was with a mouth full of food he said "absolutely delicious"! Score!!!
So for a random search on the internet this was a prize!!! Do yourself a favor and go outside the box once in a while because you might just come across a gem. It's nice to eat outside the area once in a while and this is a perfect example of why we may do it just a tad bit more. They've got...
