Had the Korean style corn dogs: one original mozzarella cheese and a half & half chili dog. Both were delicious. I hadn't anticipated the sugar that was sprinkled on their exterior, so if you're avoiding sugar, remind yourself that you're eating a corn dog after all.
I originally ordered them to-go, but ended up eating them there because I wasn't sure they wouldn't hold up for the drive home. Also, I was the only customer there, but it was still early for dinner. After having had them, I think they would hold up fine.
I'll also add that Google showed them as closed, but they had their "Open" sign on. Their windows has a light-blocking film on them, so it looks dark and potentially closed if looking in from the parking lot. I double-checked their Facebook page & they had a post stating they were open today. I'll confess to not suggesting a Google edit for their hours because I failed to get what their open/close times were. So, advice to you is to check their FB page or go there &...
Read moreAs a Korean food fan, I used to frequent Bowl Express and indulge in their 12-page Korean Comfort Food Menu. However, I was not aware of their menu change and new focus: Korean-style Hot Dogs. I finally Lunched at Big Mom's House - and it did not disappoint. I fought against my reflex to order my usual Kalbi or Bibimbop with an extra side of Kimchi and ordered a Crispy Ramen Hot Dogs. I marvelled at how much weight my Entree was. Also, I did not realize that it had a healthy(?) dusting off sugar on it as well. It was DELICIOUS, especially with sweet chili sauce. Big Mom asked if I had ever eaten there before and I kept saying that I loved her Kalbi and Mandu (Korean Dumplings), but for some reason, I kept saying kimchi. Because of my usual tongue-tiedness, she sent me home with a side of Kimchi carefully wrapped in cling film so as to not stinkup my car with its pungent smell.
Yes, yes, I will go back and support Big Mom... and order the Crispy Ramen dog...
Read moreMy first time trying Korean Corn Dogs. The restaurant is very small inside. A few tables and a counter with stools. The order taking area and food pickup area is very tight. That all was minimal to me as I went to try these Korean Corn Dogs I have watched numerous times on YouTube. I ordered one of each (Original, Potato, Chili, and Ramen) I didn't care for the Ramen as I'm not a Ramen type person. The Chili was too hot for me so I gave it to my teen who loves hot foods. She said it was very good and would eat it again. The original was just okay. My favorite was the Potato. There were small cubes of potatoes on the outside. It was crispy but the potatoes were still soft. The hotdog was beef so that made it a plus for me as I don't eat pork. The outsides were rolled in sugar. This gave it a sweeter kick as well which I really didn't mind. I definitely will be ordering...
