Hummus Grill — Restaurant in Edison

I need to start off by saying the customer service is absolutely horrible! The gentleman that took my order was very dry and standoffish. Secondly, I'd like to say that the portions are pretty small; especially for the price point. Additionally, I'd like to add that the lamb Kofta was nothing but a lamb burger. HOWEVER, I must say the lamb was marvelous! It was extremely moist (pause), and by no means, did it seem like a frozen patty. As for the rest of the dish, it was spectacular!! The rice was perfect and the combination of veggies were a great choice as well. Honestly, the only negative thing that I could say about the food is that they were a little stingy with the white sauce. But, I could work with that. Ultimately, I would like to give them five stars but due to the horrible customer service, l can't go beyond the four. I will definitely be returning, and I would suggest this place to others, but I would warn them about the dry and standoffish...

I ordered their Spicy Chicken with Rice in a bowl and Mango Milk Bubble Tea. The chicken did not taste spicy until I added the green sauces that came with it. The sauces were so delicious that I wished I could have bought bottles of them separately. The dish had overall a gritty texture and the seasoned rice was layered under the chicken, which cannot be seen in the photos. I was expecting the halal food to taste similar to other halal food that I have eaten, so its blandness was surprising.

The mango drink was a treat and I saw them prepare it with a half a cup of ice, which was blended so well that I could not tell it originally was added.

Overall, I believe their subdued flavor may appeal more to American tastebuds that do not like bold spices with heat in every mouthful, which can be a major...

Where do I even begin?... This was my second day fasting for my first Ramadan so I wanted to eat some good halal food. The guy behind the counter with the gold chain and forearm tattoo was very unfriendly. He gave me my bubble tea without boba and when I went and told him he was like "tskh ahh" and made another WITH THE WRONG BOBA. No sorry or anything just attitude and he still messed up the order. The food was very below par for the price. Most lamb over rice platters are $9.99-12.99 and very good ones being over $15. Absolutely not worth the price. If you want excellent halal food go to Mo's Grill and Sweets in Somerville if that's not too...
