Update: Philia has new ownership and I can see the difference already. The coffee actually tastes good, the atmosphere is still incredible, and the time it actually takes to get the coffee is taking less time. I was also lucky enough to see what seemed like an entire staff meeting with all of the employees being actively trained by the owner and readjusting the menu with input from the employees. I'm looking forward to making Philia my favorite coffee spot again! Old Review: Plain and simple, this is officially my favorite coffee spot in all of El Paso.
I am literally so excited to review this place. A friend of mine recommended this place since it had just opened up starting in November. To my surprise it was actually only four minutes from my house.
It is super spacious with plenty of tables, couches to sit but there is an extreme lack of electrical outlets (like 4 tables out of like 20). Their drink and food menu is good though it is pricey. A basic tea will cost you almost 4 dollars which is the same price as the coffee. Also, the drinks really aren't that spectacular and hope to see more change on that end.
With all that said, though the food and beverages aren't the greatest and a little pricey and though it can be difficult to find legit charging, I literally stay here for hours at a time on a daily basis. The people here are great and the atmosphere is absolutely superb. AS it continues to improve I will update my review, but this is one of my favorite places in El...

Really poor experience here. Two people working behind the bar were too focused on talking bout their personal lives to get a very simple drink order right. Drinks were brought out and the name Tony was on my cup. Girl didn’t even know what she just handed me. When I asked if my cappuccino was oat milk she seemed confused, then said it was. When I asked her to please remake it she had serious attitude. Instead of making it she continued to talk to her coworker. Due to her distraction I wanted to double check & ensure that my drink was actually made with oat milk. She came off as bothered and insulted that I’d asked her and snarked off to the male employee in Spanish, which I speak & understand fluently.
For a place as nice and inviting it was an extremely lackluster experience. Especially since it states right at their register to let them know about allergies. Which is why I ordered the oat milk, can’t do dairy. First sip of Coffe was alright, but couldn’t even drink it as I can’t trust that it was made with oat milk.
Overall the Location is beautiful. Parking is tight & limited but expected, wasn’t a deterrent.
Came in with little expectations and was not impressed. Disappointed to say the least.
note to the owners Thanks for the offer, but I’ll pass. Not interested in coming back, it’s not about the $. Shoutout to you for responding promptly though, it’s...
Read moreThis is my new "study spot" in town. The atmosphere is extremely inviting and relaxing for an ideal work environment. Their playlists tend to be amazing as well, so it's not a problem when I forget my headphones. If you are there in the morning, I encourage you to get the banana and strawberry oatmeal bowl with brown sugar and oat milk- it is amazing.
Wishes: I wish they had more vegan friendly lunch options. The only vegan lunch option available is the avocado toast. If you are vegan and think you may be able to modify some of their paninis, please note that these are pre-made so there will be some contamination with the cheese and other dairy products. If you're looking to be more inclusive, I would definitely encourage the addition of an all vegan ingredient lunch option ( vegan mayo, vegan cheese etc).
I wish the matcha was whisked better and that they offered coconut milk as it goes with Matcha so well. I still dream of the cashew...
