We had a very disappointing experience. We went on Fatherâs Day, and it was very busy. We tried to be understanding, but it wasnât until we started to ask where our food was (after orders that went in after our order went in got their food) that we were told our ticket was next. The person who appears to be the one to oversee the dining room came over one time to say our ticket was next but itâs Fatherâs Day. Sorry without an excuse would have been nice (he was also drenched in sweat bc the restaurant was so hot and the ac was not keeping up). When our food finally came out every single dish had a problem. The steak we had ordered medium was medium well and was so tough I had to saw to cut it. The sausages on two of the plates were hockey pucks and the bacon fatty and uncooked. The scrambled eggs had a strange texture and no flavor. The chicken on the chicken and waffle slider was so rubbery that rendered it inedible. The eggs on the eggs Benedict were closer to hard boiled than soft. I told the waitress immediately that the steak was cooked wrong and tough but I was not sending it back bc we had been waiting so long to get the food. My daughter reported her jaw hurt trying to get through the meat. After I told the waitress there was a problem with all the plates she came back and said her manager said they could remake anything we hadnât eaten. I said I wasnât going to send back because we had waited so long for food. The only thing taken off the bill was the steak. We did not expect to get the entire meal comped, but the sweaty dining room manager completely ignored us after the comment about our ticket being next. I believe the waitress tried to remedy things but was unsuccessful. Will not return. Instead weâll stop at the station, a Mexican food truck in emporia that is...

I recently visited Union Street Social with a party of four, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. Our server, Nathan, provided outstanding serviceâattentive, friendly, and professional. We were seated in the back, where the ambiance was warm and inviting, perfect for an enjoyable evening.
Now to the foodâeverything was absolutely phenomenal. For starters, we had hummus with chicken as an appetizer. It was fresh, flavorful, and set the tone for the rest of the meal. I ordered truffle fries with rainbow trout (or maybe salmonâeither way, it was amazing). Others in the party enjoyed shrimp pasta, filet mignon, and a perfectly cooked steak. We also tried the brussels sprouts, which were crispy and seasoned just right.
The dessert was equally impressiveâwe indulged in a creamy and delicious custard crĂšme brĂ»lĂ©e. For drinks, I had two, including a margarita and an old-fashioned. The cocktails were well-crafted and reasonably priced compared to big-city prices (seriously, a drink like this in New York would easily be $28).
The chef deserves five stars. Every dish was cooked to perfection, from the flavors to the textures. Itâs clear this place is run by someone with exceptional talent and passion for food. Even the cost of the meal was minimal compared to the quality we received.
Overall, Union Street Social is a must-visit. Great food, excellent service, and an atmosphere that makes you want to return. Highly recommend!

Read moreWe came here on their first day open open and had some of the BEST food. Amazing bartenders and cocktails!! The fries were so good with the remoulade, and I had a kimchi sandwich that would melt in your mouth with every bite!! We cleaned our plates, and if you had the fries you understand that's no easy feat! My boyfriend was hooked so I planned to bring him on his birthday for the horror movie night event. We came, and was super disappointed. The fries were so hard that we were digging around the pile for some moderately soft ones to eat. The flatbread was delicious, and the creme brulee was his favorite. However we both ordered the kimchi sandwiches and right away I could taste burnt breading. I only ate the half because I was worried it was just mine, but my boyfriend was like YEAH this doesn't taste the same. When I brought it up to the server, he took it back and brought it back saying something about the chicken being held at the temperature it's supposed to be? As a cook myself, you can still burn the taste out of breading. I don't know what it was exactly, either way, they didn't make us a new one or replace the fries. So we paid $95, and decided that we won't be back for awhile till they get their bearings. Consistency is super important to us. I hope the next time we chance it, the food comes through like it did the first time...
