Negligent. It breaks my heart to give PJs a low rating as I come here weekly but I have to warn my fellow food allergic patrons to stay away. I came New Years Day with my mother around 10:30am. I have a severe egg allergy, which I told my waitress about and she wrote on the ticket in bold letters “EGG ALLERGY.” I ordered avocado toast and corned beef hash. I got my food and the waitress assured me she’d talked with the chef and everything was ok. I looked at my corned beef hash and noticed there were eggs on the bottom so I sent it back and ate the toast. I thought I felt the familiar itch at the back of my throat but as I had been assured my meal had no eggs, I thought it was psychosomatic. The waitress came running back to our table saying she was so sorry but the chef had let her know the toast was dipped in egg before toasting. She said she didn’t know why he hadn’t told her before because she told him about my allergy and asked about it. She was really upset. She had done everything right. It’s not her fault at all. She offered water or juice. My mother suggested we should not be billed. The waitress went to talk to the manager who still tried to bill us for my mother’s meal since there was “nothing wrong with it.” The manager did not come to the table to talk to us or offer apologies. I spent the rest of the morning to early afternoon being treated for an anaphylactic reaction in which my face broke out in hives and swelled up, my lips swelled up, and my throat started to close. This was easily avoidable had the kitchen staff paid heed to the EGG ALLERGY warning on our ticket. I have since reached out to PJs on several platforms and have not gotten a response, though they did turn commenting off on their Instagram page. Please, train your people better. This is serious. I could have died due to this blatant irresponsible negligence. Im giving two stars because the waitress was wonderful and dedicated. All of your employees should care as...
Read moreI lived close to this place and order frequently. The food is consistently good and the service is always excellent. I do dine in at times (they have indoor and outdoor seating), though I do mostly take out or delivery. If in doubt after placing my order, they will take the time to call back and clarify any misunderstandings of my "special" requests (such as: please be sure to put my mashed hashbrowns in a separate container from the omelette).
Food: Consistently excellent. I always order the Special Omelette w/ added spinach, Mashed Hash Browns, and French Toast. Their omelets are so good and a nice golden brown (and the egg is no over cooked). The Mashed Hash Browns are a nice spin on standard hashbrowns and homefries. As it states, they are mashed in consistency, but have a great blend of flavor to them. French Toast is so good battered nicely with a light coating of brown sugar (I presume) on top. It's so good, I typically don't use any syrup.
Bar/Barstaff: As a former bartender, I find that they have good cocktails and specialty drinks menu. Often I am indecisive and the barstaff can quickly provide an adequate recommendation to suit my taste.
Service: Always polite and accommodating....this includes the bar staff who sometimes interacts with the take-out customers as well as the dine-in customers
Extras: At the front there is also a bakery case has seasonal items (cookies for the occasion) and other tasty choices. I find it hard not to grab something extra to go.
Overall: Clean, consistently good, and pleasant establishment to frequent for dine in...
Read moreI do not recommend this place to vegans.
Positive: the hostess was lovely and made a point of holding the door for my grandmom.
Otherwise, the experience was not great. The waitress did not appear to know or care what vegan means and was unhelpful in finding an option.
She at first pointed me to the beyond burger, which is served on either a brioche bun or a croissant. Since neither is usually vegan, I explained that and asked if the whole thing was vegan. This is an easy problem to solve. The restaurant just needs to keep vegan burger buns in stock.
She then suggested a veggie omelette and cut herself off after realizing that wasn't right. At this point my mom suggested an avocado toast, not seeing that it had feta on it. The waitress agreed that it would be a good option, and I ordered it. It came out with feta on it. Thankfully, I was able to get a fairly quick replacement.
Unfortunately, the avocado toast consisted of a slice of bread you could get in the bakery section of a grocery store with an overly generous amount of prepackaged guacamole slathered on it and no other seasoning. It cost over $14. I do not think restaurants should serve avocado toast at all if they use prepackaged guacamole - it's one of those items that is just really subpar compared to fresh.
My family members also were not satisfied with the service or the food. The orange juice is bottled and the coffee was described as "old" and "bitter." The eggs were not salted.
The place was not busy, so the service cannot be...
