Looked for something new rather than just IHOP or Waffle House for breakfast and saw Canopy Road Cafe. The online menu really makes you want to come in so we did. First thing there was no one at the host stand and it sits a little weird off to the side so you could walk right past because the bar is very lit up so it makes you think to walk right up to the POS system that sits at the bar, however no there is a host and you can be seated. The host was running around cleaning tables off. He asked us where we would like to sit and we asked for one of the round booths. You can tell that a few guest had just left because there were quite a few dirty tables but that is definitely the business. We sat at our table and it literally took 5 mins before someone other than the host/busser even spoke to us the lady bought over silverware and told us our server would be right over. Laura our server was not right over as she was still attending to her guest at the bar and closing them out. She than came over asked us what would we want like to drink and walked away and came back with the drinks and left to go finish her business with her guest at the bar she cashed them out, moved around a little talked to serval employees and than went to sorting silverware, I’m guessing there was not a lot of silverware because she than went into the kitchen grab the new silverware and began to polish it and sort it. At this time she had also been sat again where those guest didn’t even get her attention to after she had took out order went to POs placed it and than went to the other table. Never once made a suggestion I mean nothing. We never received refills never asked us did we enjoy the food need anything else. We had the Frenchie sandwich the sweet potato pancake and the biscuit and gravy. Food was ok the pancake was cooked a little hard and the sandwich was a little cold but hey it really didn’t seem to matter because it seemed so many other things were of importance than the attention of tables. As the busser came to clear the plates from our table Laura walked her we asked for the check she was check ready and we placed the card inside and still had to wait til we just got up and gave it to one the other employees at the POS system. She ran it for us and gave back to us never once did we see our server again. Not sure if it was a bad day for our server but the lack of attention when you are out eating is just not acceptable. The lack of attentiveness. This was our first time definitely would come back to try again before we just write it off but service was...
Read moreHey friends, time for a review...The Canopy Road Cafe, wait a minute... They look familiar...uh yes. The Canopy Road Cafe originally began in Tallahassee with one location and one on Capital Circle NW. How do I know, I lived in FSU country for 4 years... Geesh lol Anyways, heard they opened a location in Brandon. Hmmm could they be as good as Tallahassee?... They didn't disappoint. Looked over the menu and was looking for my go to. The Big Man On Campus, it was gone. I was crushed...but I tried the Southern Benedict with a Cinnamon bun Pancake. The Mrs. had the BB skillet, her go to. The Benedict had two poached eggs, sausage patties with a homemade biscuit and pimento cheese with a freshly fried green tomato. The eggs were cooked to perfection. The hollandaise sauce was bind and not loose. Creamy. The biscuit was tender and soft to the bite. Very good alternate choice. The BB was my wife's favorite. Grilled veggies, eggs and home fries. She said it was just like she remembered it. Now, the pancake... It was tender and fluffy but very sweet. You need a sweet tooth to have this if not, it's too much for the average person. I have a BIG sweet TOOTH! Lol the pecans were glazed and crunchy. The icing was drizzled over. It was very good. With also, basically drank a lot of their coffee, it was Lucky Goat. A Tallahassee staple. So good, you need to try. Our service was very good too. We had a newbie Aliza. Two weeks in with the cafe, she kept the coffee coming and checked in with us repeatedly.Good service and great attitude. Now, caution to you, it gets busy. You will wait. Get there early... Trust me, it's worth. Thanks Chris! Again friends, enjoy what...
Read moreI'll preface this review by saying first of all they serve some of the best brunch food I've ever had in the area and everything I tried was fantastic including the Avocado BLT, Cap'n Crunch French Toast, breakfast burrito, pb pancakes, and the skillet. The biggest detractor from the experience was the wait/service. We got there before noon and were given a buzzer with no wait time. Inside I could see probably 2 or 3 parties ahead of us and maybe one more outside. We waited around half an hour until I asked where we were in line and then was told another 10-15 min but it ended up being closer to 40 min before we were finally sat. There was an open table outside the entire time so not sure what happened with that but we eventually were sat and greated by our waitress whose name I forgot. She was really nice and all but didn't know if the orange juice was fresh or not when it said fresh orange juice on the menu. It sounds like a Karen complaint but that's gotta be a simple thing to at least check. The food didn't take too long to come out but it came out staggered and everything didn't hit the table at the same time which was a little bit annoying. Finally the waitress didn't check in on us to see if it was good or not which is also annoying. All in all the food was 5/5 outstanding not a single thing was wrong or tasted bad so credit where credit is due, but the wait time and service was subpar which is a bummer because this place has huge potential to rival daily eats and first watch if the service is just tightened up a bit. I would still recommend trying this place since the food is excellent and it may have just been a...
