First time trying this place DOL and it was an overall enjoyable meal. They offer Korean BBQ tables as well as hot pot tables. We were a table of 12 having dinner
Korean BBQ: The pork belly was thick and cooked well on the grill with a good char and not too fatty. Had a good flavor with a hint of smokiness . Delicious with white rice Galbi had a very tender texture and had a balanced flavor of sweetness mixed with umami. Similarly grilled very well with char on the edges without overcooking the inside of the meat
Bibimbap: we got the beef bibimbap, which came in a sizzling hot stone bowl with a nice mix of fresh vegetables and ribbons of meat. The hot stone bowl made the rice crispy at the bottom, giving a textural contrast against the softer rice on top and vegetable toppings. Comes with a side of gochujang sauce to add to your taste
Bulgogi hot pot: lots of beef in a sweet stew with vegetables. New dish for me and I enjoyed very much
Other dishes were the egg soup, seafood pancake, grilled fish, banchan side dishes. All of which were high quality in taste and execution The staff mostly spoke Korean, which added to the authenticity of the place. Despite the language barrier and large party, they were attentive and helpful. They kept refilling our banchan side dishes to our surprise!
Overall, the food was solid, and we had a good experience. Their menu has a good variety between both BBQ and lots of different soups, stews, jiggae, tofu stew, seafood stir fry, etc. I want to come back to try the lunch specials. when I return I would definitely get the pork...
Read moreI visited this restaurant yesterday (a rainy day) for a spicy hot pot dinner with friends, but the experience was disappointing due to poor service.
We ordered two appetizers and a seafood hot pot as a main. Before the appetizers arrived, the waitress placed the big hot pot on the table. When we politely asked to bring it after appetizers, she responded with a displeased expression. She frowned and looked visibly annoyed.
When we requested more side dishes, she said she couldn’t provide any because the owner was inside and asked us to understand their "position." It made us question whether the staff had been instructed not to give additional side dishes at all.
We also requested noodles to add to the hot pot later, but the waitress firmly said they don’t offer noodles with this dish, even when we offered to pay. Later, another staff member came and asked if we wanted noodles ( kal-guksu or udon), and we chose kal-guksu—but they brought somyeon(thin noodle) instead.
Now I understand why this place has so few customers. It really made me think that perhaps this waitress would be better suited for a job that doesn’t involve customer service.
They had a sign on the table offering a free drink in exchange for a good review. It makes me wonder if a few of their five-star ratings are actually the result of...
Read moreI was one of the first customers when this place first opened a while back, it was ok at the time, and recently I’ve tried it again and got takeout from here and let me tell you what a bad turn of events it is now. We ordered the seafood stir-fry Jjusam Bokeum and when we got home with the food, found a couple of things that were pretty unacceptable. First it was the wrong order as they gave us Jjukumi Bokeum instead. We called them to ask them and they told us they didn’t have pork. Oh that would have been nice if they let us know of that fact when we ordered or picked up. Second, wow for the price of more than $38 I get a small container of stir-fry which HALF is already filled with noodles, 2 white rice and some banchan. Are you kidding me? The container is only the length of my cell phone (a little more than 6 inches across). I don’t know what the grey line for scamming people with overpriced and under-portioned food is but it’s becoming seriously blatant. I could have bought the ingredients from Hannam next door and cook it myself for a fraction of what they charged...
