Lola's Kitchen Tacos y Tequila — Restaurant in Frederick

Once again, the web comes through for me on a recent trip to Colorado when I was looking for a dinner spot in the Erie area. This place got great reviews so we went. Located in a cute little 'downtown' area in Frederick, the place was bustling on a Friday evening. We were greeted warmly and seated quickly. We chose outdoors given it was a nice evening. Our server came quickly bringing water and taking our drink order. The bar menu has some fun and unique cocktails -- we went for refreshing. I honestly can't remember the names of the cocktails other than they were made with vodka and were delicious.

At our table we had the Margherita pizza, the "S.M.P.R.O" pizza and the pasta special. We all started with salads -- each trying a different one from the house salad, R.R.P and the Kale to start. I will say I could have given this place 5 stars had it not been for the fact that my house salad did not have the menu promised "Chef's Selection of Seasonal Vegetables" in it. I think I found one little tiny quarter slice of radish. It did not really matter too much (although I was disappointed) as the greens were fresh and the vinaigrette tasty. I had a bit of my friends R.R.P. and the Ancho Chili Dressing was out of this world. The main dishes were great... I scarfed half of my pizza all by myself and went nuts for the crust.

We used to love this place but we hadn’t been in a while due to COVID and me getting diagnosed with celiac. We saw they had gluten free pizza and we were excited to go back. We got there right at 6 it only took them 10 min to sit us so no issues there. From there though it became a disaster. We ordered our food. While waiting I finished my coke and after a bit the waitress asked if I’d like another I responded “yes” 15 min later we had no refill still. At this point we’d been there about 30 min, and two parties came in one was a table for 5 adults so a decent group. We keep waiting and it became 720. So we’ve been there for an hour and 20 min. I have my toddler and her bed time in 730 and we haven’t gotten our food. We’re just 3 people so not a big group. I ask how much longer as nice as I can but I’m getting frustrated she goes back and checks and says I’ll be about 10 MORE min. We say ok however then the table of 5 that came in 30 min after us got their food when we still didn’t have ours! No explanation. We finally get our food with a half sorry for the wait. EVERY table got this pizzas in about 20 min ours took longer then an hour half. We were never checked on. Oh I did get my refill but never another one, even though my glass was empty for a good portion of the time. Probably the worst service I’ve ever had. Very frustrating and...

I hate to leave a bad review, but... we met the owner at his food truck in Frederick. The food was wonderful and the staff were funny and amazing. We were excited to hear they were opening Lola's. We first went there in December. The tacos were great but the service was horrible. The waitress seemed lost and couldn't answer any of our questions, and it took forever. We were double charged and again she seemed lost and didn't know how to fix it so we just left being over charged. We wrote it off as her being new maybe?? We decided to try it again tonight, same waitress and just as bad. Still seemed lost, food was cold and flavorless, and way over priced. So disappointing. I payed almost $150 (with tip) for 4 people... Quesadillas were almost $16 and were boring and flavorless. My burrito was nothing more than a grilled burrito with rice and meet, nothing to flavor it, no chili even though the menu said pork green chili, and cold. My husbands tacos were good so that was a win. But the service was extremely slow, we sat for a good 35-40 min or more waiting for the food. I really hope for the best for this business, unfortunately we will not be retuning. I do not want to discourage folks from trying it themselves. Just stick to the tacos, they are great! Hopefully the service improves...
