Restaurant is next to Hallmark, to the left when you are looking at it in the parking lot. This restaurant just opened last Friday. This location has gone through a few ownerships of thai restaurants so if you have been here before, you haven’t tried this iteration of restaurant.
Good: They are a gluten free (except for a couple of ingredients that they can’t get around) and sugar free restaurant. All of their dishes have a vegetarian base and then you can add the protein (eg, tofu or animal meal). Note: If you have stayed away from Asian or Thai food because they use fish sauce or oyster sauce and you are vegetarian, then try this place because they use vegetarian versions of these sauces. They use monk fruit sugar in place of regular sugar. This place is a great alternative for those with dietary restrictions or preferences. Nice atmosphere. Friendly and polite service. They were very attentive in a non-obtrusive way. Dishes were delicious and you couldn’t tell that the monk fruit sugar was used. Overall, their level of sweetness on foods was less than other Thai restaurants. I don’t think that the less sweet part is because they use monk fruit sugar but more because they aren’t going for the super sweet taste that other Thai restaurants tend to have. This isn’t a bad thing as I think some Thai restaurants tend to go overboard with the sweet taste. The heavenly beef appetizer was a little tough but it is described as a “Thai style jerky” on the menu.
For improvement: The Thai iced tea could be more flavorful— it tasted a little watered...
Read moreI used to go to Green Thai Village regularly, which was before green Thai bistro. So I was going with the experience of green Thai village and their food was perfectly seasoned. Their sauces were all made from scratch and their food was always fresh. This place has potential, but it does not compare to the previous restaurant. The seasoning is not quite as thoughtfully done and the prices are too high for the quality of food. It is one of the better Thai restaurants around, but still lacking a refined pallet that created the recipes. Also if you ask for soy sauce, they are going to give you the cheapest soy sauce that money can buy. It’s basically salted water with caramel coloring. That is the kind of soy sauce you get at the cheapest Chinese and Thai restaurants. It’s like just spend a few more dollars and buy the Kikomon soy sauce. I am still giving five starts before the food is good...
Read moreWorst Pad Thai ever. Gross soggy noodles, dull flavors, and weak spice (on a 5). I haven't seen the kitchen, but I imagine this is what Thai food would be like if it was made by PaPa John's.
Previously, Thai Green Village had poor decor, but excellent food. My first experience at the new Bistro is the opposite: excellent decor, poor food. Please keep in mind that I haven't tried anything else on the menu, so I'm optimistic not all dishes will be a disappointment. Also, this is a new restaurant, and since you can't fall off the floor, they only have room for improvement. I hope they work to fix this menu item quickly because the location is super convenient and I was a regular at the last place.
I hate leaving negative reviews, but when the nicest thing I can say is "contains calories" ......a positive review would be...
