Pulled in for takeout today. Located in Ocean 13 convenience store on 61st Street heading towards Seawall. Very convenient location but parking is a bit tight. Newly opened storefront several weeks ago.
Very clean. Maybe one table for those wanting to eat in house. Very large balcony in rear off Offats Bayou. May have been some seating there but not sure.
I wanted something spicy. Owner recommended Goat Curry with rice and garlic naan. $21
All food was prepared fresh with amazing toasted spices, ginger, curry leaves, red chili pepper pods. 10 minutes later, I was out the door. The wonderful spicy curry aroma filled the car and I was eager to try it.
This goat curry was absolutely fantastic! The flavor of the spice was insanely good. It was also perfect from a spice level. Just enough to give you a good eyeball sweat. Basmati was excellent. They even have a tandoor clay oven for the naan that was being hand stretched in the kitchen and phenomenal.
What can I say?? One of my best authentic Indian meals in years.
A gem of a place in the middle of Galveston where very few options for Indopak food are available.
I hope they get a following and perhaps set up an outdoor table with a sun umbrella or picnic table of sorts.
I work at UTMB on the east end and would make the drive to pickup food here to-go. I'm already trying to plan the next trip there to sample other dishes.
Update: Went back same day as wife wanted to try. Ordered Chicken Korma, Chicken Tikka Masala, Vegie Somosas and cauliflower appetizer. OMG!! Hands down the absolute best and authentic Indian cuisine!! In fact, black cardamon seed in the sauce tells you the quality we are talking about here. Prices are consistent with other restaurants. Blown...
Read moreI went to Coastal Curry and Grill on a whim, and that was the best whim-decision I have ever made! OMG the food was delicious! They have fresh, crispy veggie spring rolls! Soft yet crispy Veggie Samosa! Warm and amazingly soft-inside Roti Tandoori! And so so so much more! The portions are large, so if you don’t eat big portions, I recommend splitting it with someone or taking the rest to-go. I do eat big portions, and I still had to take leftovers home! I had to, I needed to save room for the mouth-wateringly good looking Lassi. They had both Sweet Lassi and Mango Lassi. Though you could drink this along side your meal and get Gulab Jamun or Rasamalai for dessert, I decided to let my Lassi be dessert! It was creamy and cool and the perfect meal ender. Parking can be a bit strange, so fair warning, park in the spots along the fence so you don’t risk your car getting fender-swiped by the people driving in and out of the gas station pump area. This place was amazing! I will be recommending it to anyone who asks...
Read moreDon't let the location inside a gas station fool you – this place is an absolute delight! From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with amazing customer service that truly stands out. The hospitality is unmatched, making you feel welcome and valued. But the real star of the show is the absolutely great food. Every bite was delicious, and I was particularly impressed with the variety of options, especially the plentiful vegetarian choices. It's clear that quality ingredients and care go into their dishes. What makes this spot truly unique is the option to enjoy your meal outdoors on benches right next to the sea shore. Imagine savoring delicious food with the sound of the waves and the ocean breeze – it's an experience you won't forget! Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant. It's a hidden gem offering fantastic food, exceptional service, and a truly special dining atmosphere. Don't hesitate to give it a try – you won't be...
