El Tenampa — Restaurant in Garden City

I tried to post a review on Door Dash about my experience but it was denied. Not sure why so I’m trying again here. We ordered through Door Dash app for pick up and my husband and I picked up our food. The GOOD: food was prepared quickly and actually finished before the time it said it would be ready. The queso was yummy. And it was easy to pick up our food. The BAD: the Queso didn’t have chorizo like the description stated and we didn’t get enough chips to go with it. We received a tiny bag that was half full. And couldn’t even get close to finishing the queso and salsa. Slightly disappointing but the next day we went to the store and bought chips so we could eat the rest of it. My husband and I both ordered variations of their fajitas (prawns and beef) and We were both disappointed. All my food was cold which make no sense because we picked it up when we got the message it was ready (we were on the same road when we got the message) and we only live 8 minutes away from the restaurant so we didn’t have a long drive back to eat it. My steak tasted old and was tough and really hard to chew. I ate two bites and couldn’t finish it. What a waste of money! Worst fajitas I’ve ever had. I’ve tried a lot of Mexican restaurants and this has been the worst experience thus far. Best fajitas I’ve had in town have been at Corona Village (Meridian) and Enrique’s (Kuna). My husband wasn’t thrilled about his fajitas either. His fajitas were at least semi warm and edible. As for his rice and beans they were cold like mine. Ugh... well that was horrible. After leaving Costco, my husband and I thought we would give this place a try. It was empty and now I see why. Our booth was dirty, and that would be something I would over look if they were crazy busy. But people were just standing around.

The water tasted like a pool, it was so bad I didn't drink it. The service and food took much longer then we thought it would just for lunch, and when my order came, half of what the menu said would be on the plate wasn't there.but the girl walked away and never came back. So I wasn't able to tell her that We had no silverware and Where was the rest of the food ? When she did come back to give my husband the bill he told her " my wife's lunch only had half of what the menu said it should have" she replied with " it must be a lunch size" then my husband showed her the menu and in black and white she could read it. " oh well.. I didn't know.. do you want the rest?" No... we are done ... we've been here an hour and a half.

So the service is awful. Now, l'lI still eat somewhere if the food is amazing, but the service sucks. But that brings us to the food. It was terrible too !!! Small sizes, bland, I can't cook Mexican food, but I can open a can of beans and put crappy cheese on top, and that's what this tasted like. Yuck. I can say WITH OUT A DOUBT we will...

Terrible food and service. My recent experience at this restaurant was disappointing. We ordered chicken tacos and a Molcajete, but the waiter added shrimp to our Molcajete without asking, and then charged us extra for it. To make matters worse, they forgot to include the steak in the Molcajete.

As for the beverages, I ordered two horchatas for the children, but they only brought one, and for the other child, they brought a Rosa Jamaica instead. When I tasted the horchata, it was nothing more than plain white water with no flavor at all. When I brought this to their attention, another waiter mentioned that there was no horchata, which makes me suspect that they simply poured water into the remaining horchata to deceive us.

The service overall was subpar. Whenever we asked for extra plates or anything else, the staff appeared to be upset and unwilling to assist. This happened even though the restaurant wasn't busy; there were only three other occupied tables during our visit.

Despite all the mistakes and mishaps, we decided to leave a $10 tip. However, the waiter's reaction to the tip was unprofessional. He almost complained in front of us and gave us a bad look, which was highly inappropriate.

In conclusion, this dining experience was far from satisfactory. The food feels old and even expired. I have no desire to return...
