It is worth mentioning that I take the time to write good reviews when I enjoy a place. I don’t just write reviews when I am unhappy.
Our party consisted of 5 adults and 3 kids. Our server asked if we would like to order before giving us menus. Our drinks arrived fairly quickly but were never once refilled or even offered to be refilled. We requested water more than once. Each person ordered a very normal meal with no special requests. Once food started arriving, it took 45 minutes for every person to receive their meal. The first person was done eating and several others hadn’t received any part or their full meal yet. Two people received their meal in waves. Two people were never served their sides. One person did not receive a meal at all.
After asking for the missing meal and still not receiving it, the server returned 20 minutes later and asked if we needed anything else and had completely forgotten that she was told that items were completely missing. At this point, we had reached our limit and requested our checks, clearly identifying who was with who for paying. It was still incorrect, but we made do as we had already been in the restaurant for 2.5 hours at this point.
Our server discounted our bill while muttering one apology, but overall she did not seem to care about our experience. We spent nearly 3 hours at The Good Life and saw our server maybe 5 or 6 times. I have serving experience and found this completely...
Read moreMy first time at the Good Life Gothenburg. Enjoyed the atmosphere and the service was good. The salad bar was average and the shrimp po’boy was decent. The only issue was the dessert. We ordered the salted caramel molten lava cake. After the first bite of the sauce we should have sent it back however the ice cream helped alleviate some of the spoonful of salt that was the caramel sauce. This was shared between three of us at the table and each one of us stated the same. Way too much salt. The cake and ice cream were good. The sauce was difficult to eat unless you followed it with the ice cream to calm the burning of the salt and the salt flavor. I like salt but this really wasn’t edible. We pushed through it and did inform two servers to let the dessert preparer’s know it was too much salt. “They must have put too much salt in it.” Was one of the responses. My tongue is still burning over an hour later and it triggered a bad headache, chest pain, and nausea. I have underlying health issues so it has impacted me more so than the other two people who shared it. It was my choice to eat as much as I did and I won’t do that again. Definitely...
Read moreThis place is legit! Good Life has it all. Outstanding service, exceptional food, with an authentic welcoming environment. The past and present photos of Gothenburg sprinkled throughout the restaurant gives guests a glimpse into the town’s rich history. I love that. Our server was attentive, accommodating, upbeat, and knowledgeable about the menu items. The price point is fair for the quantity, presentation and quality . I, along with 3 others in my party of 9, ordered the 6oz fillet mignon and each of us ordered it to our preference. We ordered rare to medium and each one was tender and delicious. I would recommend Good Life if you’re passing through, because you will want to see more of what the town has to offer and meet more of the friendly locals. I would recommend it to locals as well because it will remind you that you’re in one of the most beautiful places on earth because of the people...
