Haven't been here in a while was in the area and thought it would be nice to visit it always brings back great memories when I was younger with my grandmother as walking in walking down the hall it was great but as soon as we got to the food there was no one there to serve any salad the lady waiting to serve you entrees you couldn't really see because there was so much Steam so felt rushed trying to decide on what kind of entree I wanted once got down to the bread the lady was just standing there did not greet me did not ask me would I like any rolls I had to wait and say can I please have a roll and the lady working the teas seems to be full of starcasm right off, the vibe was just awkward my dad asked her if they still had sliced lemons she proceeds to grab some lemons with some tongs and my dad had just took his glass in hand after grabbing it off the counter for her to put the lemons in but she said "what do you want me to do put my finger in it" and the lady working the breads just started laughing the same lady that was doing the teas had to ring our order up my dad asked if they still did VA veteran discount and she said "what do they tell you when you normally ask" and he said "I guess they put it on there"she said "okay it's on there" and then they continue to laugh so we're looking at each other like okay not sure what's funny so we were like "hahaha" so awkward!!! The lady working the dining room was the most Pleasant and just filled with joy and great customer service she was running around making sure everyone had what they needed and was good even the lady in the front when my dad asked about VA veteran discount she said no you can get a child's plate with chop steak & mashed potatoes next time you come! so overall the experience was awkward but it did bring back great memories sitting in the dining room reminiscing about my grandmother and other family members that we used to come here with when I...
Read moreI started eating at K&W back in 1971 and it was my favorite place to eat, but that is no longer the case. In the last 20 years, management has not taken care of their facilities or the quality of the food they serve. The store off Holden Road smelled so bad, we felt sick just walking in and it didn't help when we had a roach crawling along the wall above our table. We stopped going to that location two years ago because of the horrible smell, roaches and food quality.
Today, we were near the Friendly Ave location so we decided to take a chance, though we knew better. Once we got to the service line, we were immediately greeted with the most disgusting looking ceilings that I have ever seen in a restaurant. The ceilings behind the serving counter were disgusting due to neglect and I also noticed a fire detector hanging down loose from its electrical cord. The ceiling right above the customer line were equally disgusting and it appears that they have been neglected for 20-30 years or more.
I knew immediately coming here was a mistake but we ordered food anyway. My plate was so small that my food barely fit on the plate and in fact, was falling off my plate. The Country Steak was so over salted, it started to burn my throat. After only a few bites, I could no longer stomach the taste, so I stopped eating. We left and promised each other that this would be the final time we would ever come back to K&W.
K&W management has been failing their customers over the last 20 years and the best thing that could happen to K&W is that they shut down. Customers,...
Read moreI love K&W and I live out of town so I don’t always get the opportunity to eat at one of my favorite childhood spots. However, my experience with them today has been horrible. Unfortunately, I’m in town today because my mom is having surgery. It was kind of agreed upon that this would be her post surgery meal as everyone in our family loves K&W. I went to pick our meals up and I was met with the worst attitude from the lady that was working the to go counter. Everything was cause for an attitude. There was a wait on the beef livers and she was like “you’re going to have to wait.” I said that’s okay. And waited while they prepared the food. Then she wasn’t able to accommodate everything that was included in the second meal and I asked if it would be okay for me to check in with my sister and she said “seriously?” I was like yes, I’ve already been waiting here 20 minutes I want to make sure I get her order correct and see what she’d like as a replacement. Then when I asked for barbecue sauce for chicken strips she rolled her eyes and handed me a single container of barbecue sauce that was COVERED in barbecue sauce. I asked if I could get another and she completely ignored me. I walked away with no barbecue sauce, no utensils for three meals, and a sour taste in my mouth from her attitude before even having the opportunity to eat my meal. It’s safe to say I’m never coming back to this k&w again especially when there are so many other options in the area that I know would provide better...
