Maui Tacos - Kamaole Beach Center — Restaurant in Hawaii

When we get to visit Maui we always enjoyed eating at Maui Taco. This time we ate at the Kihei location. Based on this visit it will be our last. I enjoyed their breakfast burrito. We went a little after 9:00 am and we were the only ones in the restaurant. It appeared the two employees’ were behind doing set up as some of the salsa bar items were not out yet and even after I asked about an item it never was put out. My wife ordered an item and she was very specific about no beans on the plate; I ordered my usual BF burrito. When the food finally arrived her plate was covered with refried beans. When I cut into my burrito I saw it was full of rice which is not listed on the menu board as one of the ingredients. The female employee admitted she forgot to tell the cook about no beans so they re-cooked her meal. I asked the male cook why there was rice in mine and he said that’s how is comes. I literally had to have him come out from behind the counter and see what the menu board listed as the ingredients in the burrito I ordered. He looked at it and said it was wrong. Honestly the worst experience I’ve had getting food in maui. Customer service was definitely lacking in all areas, I ordered the surf and turf and watched my food be cooked which was great but my meat wasn’t cooked thoroughly and had pink in it. I called and said I just want a refund and he told me I had to bring the plate back 😅😅😅 which I have no problem because it was not tasty at all, I didn’t even finish my shrimp taco. The soda tasted gross and we tried all of them so I assume they haven’t cleaned their machine in a while. I only got a few chips and asked for more and was told no, I said why not? He said they charge and I said that’s fine how much? This dude told me ONE DOLLAR PER CHIP. Hands down, this was the worst food we had on Maui. Actually, it was the only bad food we had over 5 days. The refried beans were good. The house taco with BBQ pork had good flavor, but fell apart because it's a pile of mush. The two of us actually finished those. The problem was with the other tacos and chips. The chips tasted like cardboard. Even though there was a fresh salsa bar, the taste of the chips ruined it. The shrimp taco had rubbery/hard shrimp that was lacking in flavor. The steak taco actually tasted like cleaning chemicals. It was almost as if someone was spraying cleaner near the beef and there was overspray on it. It was horrible. We each took a bite to verify it really tasted that way and agreed on the flavor. Gross.
