We highly recommend Sandwich Isle Bread Company! The wedding cake they created for us was beyond anything we imagined, an absolute work of art. Our guests were in awe, with many unsure if it was even real until we cut into it! The flavors were just as incredible as the design, moist, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. Zeke, the cake designer/baker, is clearly gifted, and the care she puts into her craft shines through in every bite. Suzette made the entire process seamless with excellent communication, and Brock delivered the cake flawlessly and right on time. This bakery is something special! We thank them deeply for being a part of our wedding day. Exceptional cake, fair pricing, and service that’s second to none. We’ll be recommending Sandwich Isle Bread Company to everyone we know!

Sandwich Isle Bread Company is top-tier! Immediately upon walking in, you're immersed in the welcoming environment. The staff is super friendly and helpful and give great recommendations on products to try. They explained the thought and work they put into curating their products and give you an expansive taste of the island! As visitors we really appreciated their hospitality. We were able to enjoy their bread on the island, and take some back home for our family and friends to try. You can even find them at the local vendor market on the weekends. DO NOT LEAVE THE ISLAND WITHOUT GIVING THIS PLACE A TRY!

First of all, I was a lover of bread before I moved to Kona in 2016. One of the most sad thing for me is that it is difficult to find any bakery here in Kona. Probably Safeway of SacknSave were the best choice for me. Oh, Costco too. However, they were not great but just okay to put my appetite for bread down. When I found this bakery in Waimea, I shouted out! Yay! It's only taking 40 minutes from Kona to visit this bakery. I hope to see something good bakery in Kona soon. I recommend this Sandwich Isle Bread Company. If you are a lover of bread (Who is not?), then you really don't want to miss this one.

I’ve been a loyal customer at Sandwich Isles Bakery for over 10 years, and it’s heartbreaking to see how much it has changed. I feel like the quality of ingredients has really gone downhill—everything now tastes overwhelmingly sweet & sugary-the richness and balance they used to be known for is gone. I used to love their cakes, bars, and pastries, but now it feels like everything is made with shortcuts. It doesn’t even seem like they use local butter anymore.

The biggest disappointment is the experience when you walk in. The display cases are consistently empty— many of the items I would buy regularly are no longer available. There is no variety. They’re only open a few days a week, and even then, it feels like there’s nothing to buy. Also, for a simple birthday cake (not a wedding cake or elaborate design), they now require 2 weeks’ notice, and they only offer two flavors? That’s extremely unusual—most bakeries can handle a standard birthday cake with just a couple of days’ notice.

On top of that, prices have gone up . I don’t mind paying more for high-quality, locally sourced baked goods, but right now the value just isn’t there. The one saving grace is their chocolate—it’s still excellent, and I don’t know where they source it from, but it’s the only thing that has stayed consistent. Unfortunately, that’s not enough to make up for the decline overall. I truly loved this bakery for many years, but I don’t understand what’s happening to it now....

I wish this place had shown up when I was searching for a quick bite on the way through Waimea. We ended up stopping at a breakfast cafe at the end of this shopping center and passed by while waiting for our food. Having just ordered breakfast we only ordered a handful of things--all of which were absolutely fantastic. The ham & cheese croissant was outstanding--and I've had a good many. It was my first pastelito, but I could tell immediately that this baker knows how to make perfect pastry. I so regret not ordering the strudel; even at $15, it seems a shame to waste an opportunity to get such a rare treat made properly. I was also disinclined to get anything sweet, but my partner opted to get the lilikoi meringue, and it was phenomenal. Perfect graham cracker crust, with a custard that hits all the right notes of sweet and tart and a delightful creaminess from the meringue. I wish I...
