Destination Smokehouse Express — Restaurant in Hemet

My husband and I heard about this destination through IG, so we were very eager to try. We were so disappointed in the presentation of our food. Oxtails were overcooked to the point they tasted burnt. The Oxtails were hard and not tender and full of black pepper. The meat was so overcooked that the oxtails had lost its flavor. Not enjoyable to eat. The beans were just basic and taste right from the can. The young lady offered to let us try the potato salad and so glad we did! We did not get the potato salad because it was also not good. Plain and no flavor. Mac and cheese were disgusting and had lots of cornstarch. In our opinion, there was nothing about this mac and cheese you would like. Not good at all. We spent about $60.00 for 1pnd burnt oxtails, $35.00 beans, mac and cheese, and 1 taco. The prices are way overpriced. It wouldn't be so bad if the food was good. I feel like we just waited our money. We were very disappointed since this was our first visit. We really wanted to like this place after hearing so much about it. However, we were so disappointed!! I always try my best to give an honest review, and this review is very honest. I can not recommend destination smokehouse in good faith. We went to the hemet location. All of the delicious food we saw on Instagram was not what we received. My husband and I are still burping up pepper. Attention: Destination smokehouse, you owe us a do over. Make sure every order you serve is your very best because you never know who you are serving. I would give more stars if I could. We have become regulars. We have yet to order something we didn't like. The brisket and cheddar along with the el paso burger are our favorites. As for the Dessert Waffles honestly we have tried them all and you cannot go wrong. They are all scrumptious. Our favorites are the Acapulco and the Savanah Strawberry Shortcake. Here's the thing you need to know about this hidden gem. They are now getting so popular with people traveling from all over that they stay open until they sell out. So do yourself a favor and call ahead if you are coming long distance. We have had family fly into visit and I always call before heading over especially on the weekends. This place is like none other. Fabulous food but all the staff make you feel like family. Nick, the owner, is such an easy going hard working man. Kudos to him and his staff for making Destination what it is today.

Absolutely love this place. It's a great hideout from the normality of Hemet. The employees are always happy and so helpful. We come here often and love trying their new menu items. I love BBQ! I especially love it when it's done right and the service is exceptional and the atmosphere makes you want to hang around for a spell. Destination Smokehouse and Eatery hits a home run on all of these areas. I visited because I had seen many post of the pitmaster showcasing smoked oxtails. So the next time I was in Hemet working I stopped in. Well... This place is the real deal. Lots of delicious choices on the menu had my mouth watering. I finally created my own platter with smoked oxtails, smoked pastrami and smoked brisket. It was all fantastic! The oxtails that brought me in did not disappoint. They were tender and delicious as was the pastrami and the brisket. I also had the Mac n Cheese and thought I am a Mac n Cheese snob... Destination Smokehouse and Eatery has that down too! Not to mention the strawberry lemonade and delicious pickles. All that said, it is the service that will keep me coming back. Friendly welcoming greetings were flowing to everyone who entered and the owner greeted me by name because I left a comment on their Instagram page a week or so before saying I was coming by the next time in town.
