I've heard about this place for a while now and had to finally give it a try. I have to qualify my expectations to begin with, I really wanted sticky buns, which they do not have. This makes a fat boy with a craving disappointed and sad when they are not there. Now I have to say the establishment was quaint and clean, which is always a must. The coffee was mehh, not impressed. I ordered a couple of Savory rolls with egg, cheese and sausage. They also came with a small side gravy. They were decent, but not exceptional for only being offered on Sundays. I also ordered two cinnamon rolls. Now... They were fresh and very much like fresh bread, more like bread than a cinnamon roll. Everything seemed more healthy? My expectations are more towards comfort food. I want my rolls brazed across the top with butter. I want a heavier dough with cinnamon and sugar rolled in the middle. I want them heavy and flakey with heart stopping, cholesterol filled goodness. With Will's rolls, they were extremely light and fluffy with a dusting of cinnamon in the wrap. More like a healthy alternative to cinnamon rolls from the comfort food category. If you are looking for Hot Springs trendy, with healthy, light overtones, this place could possibly be for you. If you are looking for solid, old-style memories from the past of artery blocking goodness and love like grandma used to make, it is probably not. Why 3 stars? It just didn't meet my expectations of what defines a...
Read moreJust got back from a great weekend trip to Hot Springs. I found the highly rated Will’s Cinnamon shop online our first night in town and I told the group I wanted to try it out before we left. We finally made it to Wills Sunday morning and all headed inside, greeted by the great cinnamon smell; it smelled delicious. The store wasn’t real busy in my opinion, maybe 10 people including my group of 4. We waited in line for about ten minutes and then a girl behind the counter yelled out that if we were going to stay we had to wear a mask. Why, why did she have to yell that out…? Based on the latest science, and the fact that a lot of restrictions have been lifted, some states have no restrictions, my group no longer wears a mask. We spent the day before shopping in downtown, and not once did we need a mask, or were we even asked to put one on. I know it is your business, and your option to set the rules, but it’s also my option on where I choose to spend my money. Unfortunately, we all walked out and loaded up in the car. I was really hoping to try a cinnamon roll, and based on the smell I experienced, I’m sure it...
Read moreMy wife and I went to Will's. From what we could tell from afar, the rolls looked home made and delicious. The problem we had was with the system and staff. I know Corona is out there, BUT there was 1 single table with guests.
After standing in front of the counter for awhile, we were finally told to grab a seat. We did, and just waited more. Eventually, I noticed a waitress took the order from the only other table with people. We were there a good 15 minutes and they were already there waiting. I watched the waitress from there walk around with the ticket, bend over and write on it quite a bit. She then went in the back for several minutes, and then came back out to the counter area. Finally, I saw her put their ticket on glass window, which I assume means his order was being placed. When I saw this, and how long it took, I realized I wasn't going to be served for quite a bit more time, so I left. To serve a few to go orders, and one table top, my guess is there were at least 6-8 staff members there. I don't remember seeing a restaurant less effective...
