⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Top-tier cocktails, incredible food, and standout service—Bosscat is a must-stop in Houston.
We kicked things off with my go-to cocktail—a Whiskey Sour with egg white, made with Maker’s Mark Cask Strength. And let me tell you… it’s officially the best Whiskey Sour I’ve ever had. Smooth, bold, and perfectly balanced. I’d come back for that drink alone.
My wife went with Libations #11—a rye-based egg white sour with almond syrup. Light, nutty, and refreshing.
We came in for Houston Restaurant Weeks, and the 3-course dinner delivered on every level.
Appetizers: • The Pig Candy—pork belly glazed in rye whiskey caramel with toasted sesame and kimchi—was out of this world. I could’ve eaten it all night. • I had the Lettuce Bites—grilled chicken in gem lettuce cups with pickled vegetables and a soy bourbon glaze. Fresh, light, and full of flavor.
Entrées: • My wife chose the Sirloin, sliced thin and served with cowboy butter, Yukon smashed potatoes, and Brussels sprouts. Delicious and cooked perfectly. • I ordered the 24oz Devil’s Cut Ribeye—an absolute beast of a steak. Char-grilled, seasoned to perfection, and dripping with cowboy butter. I asked for rare, it came out medium rare, but it was still fantastic—no complaints.
Desserts: • My wife had the Salted Caramel Brownie—with a graham cracker crust, caramel drizzle, vanilla ice cream, and whipped cream. • I wrapped up with the Bourbon Bread Pudding—warm, rich, and topped with cinnamon, bourbon caramel, and vanilla ice cream. The perfect Southern finish.
A couple small critiques: The music was a bit too loud, which made conversations tough at times. Their website and social media presence could use some love—a spot this good deserves better digital curb appeal.
But here’s the bottom line: Bosscat is a whiskey enthusiast’s dream—with whiskey-inspired menu items, hidden gems of amazing pours, and décor that looks like it was plucked straight off the Kentucky Bourbon Trail.
We’ll be back. And next time, I’m getting two of those Whiskey Sours.

Read moreOn Sept 18, at about 11:30 am, I sat at a table next to the bar. The whole place was practically empty. The bartender was in conversation with another employee at the bar, and took his time getting water to my table. So Whatever, i wasn't dying of thirst. I ordered the Chicken Meatballs and they were big... and tasted bland like they were a frozen food that I could buy at Costco. They came with a dash of bbq sauce on the top to make it better. I'll not be eating that again. 🤢 Then I ordered the Short Rib Chilaquiles with an egg... One word to describe this; "nasty". Basically its a bunch of tortilla chips SMOTHERED in enchilada sauce with a sprinkle of shredded pork, about a 1/4 of an avocado, and an egg,(ordered with it). The sauce is definitely a major salt overload. If you dare to try this I would suggest to ask for the sauce on the side. You'll thank me later. I only ate about a 1/4 of it. My friend ordered a chop salad. It was just that, nothing special. The female bartender did make sure our drinks were always full so that was nice. I handed the bartender my C.Card and so did my friend at the table and we told him to split the bill. Well, hearing our request, Mr Preoccupied bartender walked off with 2 cards in his hand and only billed one of us for the whole amount. So I didn't cause a fuss and just took care of the bill.
The owners dad, in a polo and shorts, and tennis shoes, did approach our table to check on us, so that was good. He was nice. The restaurant looks awesome and has tons of liquor everywhere on the wall and hanging from the ceiling. The bathrooms were nice for the most part. Dimmly lit and one bathroom was out of order. Glad they have several bathrooms. The food in the pictures on Google looks awesome but not ours. If we ever go back I'd definitely try something different... Like that Donut Burger or the Sugar...
Read moreI did not know what to expect pulling up to this restaurant. All I know is the reviews were excellent. When we walked in it was so upscale and nice. The waiter greeted us and asked us where did we want to sit. I was like “wow we get to choose” he smiled and said yes. I chose these beautiful king and queen chairs, at least that’s what they look like to me..lol!! The atmosphere was very welcoming and classy at the same time. I loved it!!
The menu was not very large, which I think it’s great because you don’t have 10 pages of food to choose from. Since I am on this “healthy eating era” I choose to get all sides. I got the Portobello Mushroom Fries, Maple Brussel Sprouts and the Broccoli Rice. My lunch date ordered the 12 Hour Short Ribs that came with scalloped potatoes, green beans and fried onions.
Let me start with the side. I love love love Brussel sprouts but you know how there is a fine line between charred and a slight burnt taste. Well these had a burnt after taste and I couldn’t eat them but the flavoring from First bite were good. Maybe it was an off one with the Brussels. I won’t hold it against them. The mushroom fries were ok, just a little too thick for me and no seasoning in the batter. I wouldn’t order those again. The broccoli rice was cheesy and delicious.
Now to this main dish…. Oh my goodness!! From first bite to the last it was delicious. The short rib was cooked to perfection. It was moist, juicy and flavorful. The scalloped potatoes were evenly cooked. The green beans lawwddddd were so good. When we do go back I will definitely be ordering some green beans. They were seasoned so well and definitely had garlic on them which I loveeeee.
I want to try everything on the menu so we will be returning and we also decide to try the happy hour as well. I am looking forward to going back and enjoying...
