Decided to skip Cracker Barrel and give a locally owned place a try for breakfast. The place was hopping (it was a Saturday morning) and we had to wait about 10 minutes for a table, which was pretty much exactly the wait time they told us. Service was prompt, as far as taking our order and bringing our drinks. The wait time for the food was quite long though. I mean, I know they were super busy, but it was a Saturday morning, so maybe bring in some more staff for the weekend rush? The menu is the usual mix of breakfast stuff, and a few lunch type items. They had a nice selection of Benedicts and crepes, which was nice. Would like to have seen a bit more variety though, on some of the other items. My husband ordered the cinnamon roll french toast, which was amazing! Although it was super sweet. Not sure I could eat a whole order myself due to the overwhelming sweetness, but he had no problem lol. I got pancakes, bacon and eggs. Instead of a side of toast, I was offered two more pancakes, which is what I got. The two pancakes that came with the eggs were quite small, but the two "extra" ones were substantially larger (typical size you might get at Cracker Barrel or IHOP). Not sure why that is. My food arrived warm, but my husbands was leaning towards the cold side. Since we had waited so long for our food, and had things to do, we didn't bother to send it back (he will eat anything!). Syrup was brought to the table in a single dispenser, but it was quite cold. Which is a bummer. If they kept the glass dispensers in a tray of warm water (or something) and brought it to the table while warm, it would be a HUGE improvement over pouring cold syrup over warm pancakes. All in all it was good, but not...
Read moreBland, boring, but mostly blah.
First red flag; this restaurant doubles as a Brazilian steakhouse called Gauchos at night. Either be a pancake house or a steakhouse.
You can tell all the money went into the interior decor with this place and not into the food.
Wait staff not super thrilled to deal with customers. Just overall uninterested and unenthusiastic. However our waitress did bring us coffee and put our order in right away.
I ordered the pancake breakfast for $7.99 since they are a pancake house I figured this was the thing to get. My husband ordered a breakfast wrap with hashbrowns.
For some reason my pancake breakfast also came with a side order of either toast or more pancakes. I ordered the side of pancakes.
Red flag #2; our food came out less than five minutes after ordering. This clearly means it is not fresh.
For some reason my side order of pancakes was double the size of the pancakes I got with my pancake breakfast. And they we're definitely frozen/made at some other point in time, not fresh. They we're tough and dry and sad. I expect a pancake house to serve fresh, fluffy and moist pancakes. The butter on top of the pancakes was frozen. The sausage links were barely warm and my over hard egg was missing it's yolk.
My husband's breakfast wrap was definitely not fresh, he said it was very bland. There's no way they could have assembled the wrap in the amount of time it took to place the order and then receive our food. His hashbrowns we're mushy.
Wasn't worth the $. There are other breakfast places that cost the same with fresh food. It honestly doesn't take a lot to make breakfast food. If I want this quality of food I will hit a fast food restaurant and...
Read moreGold Coffee Pancake House has become our second dining room! We first set foot in the restaurant two years ago and have since brought many family and friends to experience the quality of service and great food offered here.
The restaurant provides a terrific value of service they pride themselves on. The dedication to quality food, taste, and portions are so joyfully filling and their coffee is heaven! Our favorite waitress Penny knows my family so well, that she immediately works on clearing the sections we like to sit in and gets us our coffee with a bowl of brown sugar immediately! She knows how much we like our coffee black with brown sugar! Even if we can't have Penny when we walk in, she hovers over whomever is waiting on us to ensure that we get the same treatment as if she was there. It is quite satisfying to see the confused faces on the waiters when she does it, because they look at us wondering if we are famous or something.
Their "Benny's" style of eggs benedict are all delicious. The Huevos Rancheros and Chilaquiles are out of this world! My wife literally dreams about their pancakes which always informs me it's time to go back. They really are amazing pancakes, and we can't get enough of them. All of their omelette dishes are so savory and adventurous! I have never dreamed I would try biscuit and gravy style omelette, but it blends perfectly in its structure! My daughter loves their red velvet French toast, and always enjoys talking to Penny. We love this place and recommend it...
