My family of 5 went for dinner on a Sunday, we all got the buffet and couldn't be more disappointed. Chicken pot pie over seasoned and, chicken and dumplings were just dumplings, the kettle beef almost had no taste, rolls and biscuits hard as a rock. The salad bar is lacking and the ranch dressing was definitely sour! Mashed potatoes cold. We went around 5 pm and there were still biscuits and bacon on the buffet from breakfast. The waitress rushed to plate my children's food from the buffet which I thought extremely odd as they eat at buffets often and are more than capable of operating a pair of tongs without slinging food everywhere and at one point mentioned not wasting food to them at the buffet. They also were not unattended at any point at the buffet. That was a first for me and off putting to say the least. She was not rude about it but I would guess to say that statement trickled down from management. The amount I paid covered the cold food loss on our meal. Wild, the cost was insane for what we actually received. There's a fine line between not wasting food and not throwing food away that's already wasted and this place tip-toes that line. Things on the buffet were covered w/ old blackened pans I assume to keep them warm, it didn't work, half of the food was still cold. The place was completely empty. My oldest son struggled to eat because of a sour smell he couldn't shake the whole time we were there. Everything has a dingy feel to it like it hasn't been thoroughly cleaned in a long time. Even the buffet. I didn't mention anything to the waitress or ask for a manager, it is not my job to tell them how to do theirs. If you aren't checking your buffet, stirring, rotating food out, what are you doing in an empty restaurant? We all cook and eat, it's clear to see food is turning by looking at it and it's common sense that biscuits dont last all day on a buffet. I seen 1 employee the whole time I was there. This business appears as tho it's been almost completely given up on. After eating here I read the reviews on Google and the way the business comments to skirt responsibility by excuse and redirecting by question is appalling. There's a serious lack of accountability in the way this place is run! I am receiving no pay, perks, or benefits...
Read moreWe went as a family of four to Delmonico's in Cape Girardeau , MO. One child had hot buffet for $4 99. They had hot roast beef on it, sliced ; and fried 🐔, chicken pot pie, catfish, popcorn shrimp, mashed pot, Mac and cheese, vegetables, fried okra, spaghetti, chicken livers, gravies, two soups, lots of salad makings, dessert bar( cobblers, pies, puddings, jello, cake, vanilla ice cream, all the fixings for that. If you want a "dinner ", they have plenty of steaks ,chicken, seafood, hot sandwiches like hamburg's etc. My one child had the steak special ($14.99)she loveseat. It was cooked right and delicious! Hand cut French fries too. I had sirloin tips ,onions and peppers. ($11.99), w/ a baked 🥔. It was tough. I ate half. My husband had the big steak . 14 ounces. $22.99. He totally enjoyed it ! It was cooked as he asked. It was hot & tender. Your dinner comes with a hot side potato and cold salad & dessert bar !!! Really good. You can add hot too for $3.99 more. Everything was hot. It was a treat well worth it. The waitress ,Tiffany, was a sweetheart. And she was efficient. Tipping is a must. Even if we get buffet, we leave a few dollars for them. There is so much to enjoy on hot buffet. $10. 99(?). IDK. I am sure I did not get it all !!! Sodas are $1 99. Restaurant was clean. We did not use bathroom. I can't say how that was. Negatives, my girl wanted a shrimp basket , they ran out of all but popcorn( buffet). They ran out of steaks sauce. Busy from 6-8 pm. I will go earlier next time. On the menu, online , no prices for buffet. Nothing else. I will say I can't understand their 3.9 stars ? It was really good 😊 & my husband and I recommend it. So, go enjoy...
Read moreEdit in response to owner: We lived in Sikeston and Cape Girardeau for years and loved Delmonicos. Now in central MO, and came down to visit family. I was excited to come back to Delmonicos, as it had been several years since our last visit. I requested it and drug the family there. When I came in Saturday evening, I had no idea that you only offered the buffet on Friday and Sunday. Maybe that's how it always was, but I thought it was every evening. Then looking at the new menu, you have burgers, lots of side options, but limited entrees that I can eat as a diabetic. Basically two steaks, fish (which I dislike, and you were out of), ham (honey glazed), or something breaded or a sandwich. No salad option except for a side salad. I ended up eating fried chicken. Which was also not healthy, but I wasn't willing to pay $20+ dollars for the better steak. So the chicken tasted like, well, fried chicken. Hard to mess it up unless you burn it. Your limited selection, lack of a buffet or any salad option besides the side salad and high prices are the reason you received a two star review. Would have done 2.5 but it's not an option. I hope that clarifies the review a little.
Original review:
Buffet has been closed except for earlier Friday and I believe Sunday. Prices have gone up substantially. And menu choices are pretty limited now. Overall I can't recommend. Food was still good, service was decent. Just not a fan of the...
