Recently visited this oldie, but goodie. Pretty sure my first visit was 20 years ago. This place has been around for a while. I was greeted with a friendly smile as soon as I walked in the door.
I opted to sit downstairs in the dining room. Although they do have a pretty cool bar upstairs. Not much has changed about this place in 20 years. It still has a neat vibe with amazing smells coming out of the kitchen, and sweet and friendly staff.
I didn't need to look at the menu tonight because I knew exactly what I wanted. I wasted no time in ordering my favorites. The chips and salsa and Mossfire's Famous Meatloaf.
First let me say that Mossfire's salsa is hands down THE BEST salsa in town. It's NOT your typical salsa. It's made fresh daily with fire roasted tomatoes and has a slightly sweet flavor. Normally I don't like sweet salsa, but this one is perfection in every way. I could drink it from the bowl it's so delicious. The chips are dusted with chili powder and came out warm.
When the meatloaf plate was set in front of me, it was piping hot and so fragrant. I don't often order meatloaf in a restaurant and definitely never with gravy, but at Mossfire.... It's perfect just as they serve it. The gravy has amazing flavor and fresh mushrooms, but not a mushroomy flavor. I'm guessing there's some sort of wine in the gravy. Whatever they do, it's worthy of praise. The meatloaf has crispy edges and I'm pretty sure there are some hidden veggies in there, but it's so so good. The mashed potatoes are fresh with chunky pieces still in them. They're good enough to eat without the gravy, but why waste gravy that's awesome when you can eat it with. The veggies are yummy too. Fresh and steamed and lightly seasoned.
I was so hungry that I just about cleaned my plate and the portions weren't small. After talking to the sweet staff running the downstairs, I realized that I've never had any of their desserts. Needless to say, I left with cheesecake to go because I had no room for it after dinner
Last, but not least, I will caution you all that parking can be challenging. Amazingly, I got lucky and scored a spot right across from the restaurant. Don't know how it happened, but it was just icing on the cake for a perfect dining experience. I encourage everyone to try Mossfire or reacquaint yourself with this...
Read moreWorse experience ever! We were there to celebrate a birthday. They said they do not take reservations so we arrived the day off and was told half the party had to be with us before we can be seated. The full party arrived and after an hour passed by we went to check on the seating and was advised they had given our seat away. I understand people make mistakes but it was the staff failure to rectify the situation that made things worse. After our seat was given away, we were advised it would be another 20 minutes. After 20 minutes the same thing occured. Our seat was given away again. The hostess stated the people was given the seat because they were call in yet we were advised they did not accept call in. Why was the other parties not advised to wait like we was? How can the hostess make the same mistake twice? And not be apologetic! Finally I asked to speak with a manager. After waiting 30 minutes the waiter asked if management ever came over. I advised no and she went to check. The waitress then came back and said the lady manager for downstairs stated she had already spoke to other people in my party and did not feel the need to speak with me. How unprofessional! Since when do you get to decide who you want to speak to when a manager is requested? I can tolerate errors but I cannot tolerate disrespect! 2 hours later they seated us. We only stayed because the birthday girl insisted. I was ready to take my hard earn money elsewhere. Needless to say the manager NEVER came to speak with me. I will not be back and I would not recommend this place to anyone especially a minority! Food was decent but the service alone is enough to...
Read moreI went to have lunch with a friend after attending a Memorial Day event. We ended up at Mossfire Grill. When we walked in, we were recruited by the most amazing-looking cookies I have ever seen! The staff was friendly, greeted us, and gave us the choice of where to sit. We opted for the bar upstairs The waitress and the/bartender were so friendly and made great suggestions. The food was excellent. We ended up getting shrimp tacos and the triple dipper. We also had the white sangria which was a brunch special. Everything we had was good and served fast by amiable people! We ended up eating everything we ordered and getting those oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. OMG..those cookies are what I have dreamt of.. chocolate chips are melty in the center. It's just gooey! It's the best cookie I have ever had!
As I mentioned in the beginning, I went to a memorial service and had gotten a wreath. I wanted to ensure that it went to someone who was a veteran or had lost someone who served. The staff willingly opted to help me by taking the wreath and displaying it. They promised to get it to someone. That was my first visit, but it will not be my last. Thank you, Mossfire crew, for being everything I had hoped you would...
