I have been wanting to try Tata’s Tacos forever! Finally was able to do so this past weekend. The weather was perfect for the rooftop which is what I wanted to experience.
Ambiance: LOVE the rooftop, it’s huge and spacious and has various seating areas, bar area with stools, chairs, tables and umbrellas and a lounge area more comfortable like sofa seating. Very cute, colorful and a whole vibe. The first floor is huge with a very large spacious bar and open windows.
Starters: We ordered the Elote in a bowl and El Chapo. Both were extremely good. The Elote was similar to your typical Elote from street vendors but this one had a hint of limon which made it all better we left none behind. El Chapo was the best overall it had so many flavors in there I can’t even begin to explain how good this is, there was nothing on the plate left but a few jalapeños which are btw very hot!! The combination of the chorizo and smoked brisket along with the melted cheese and topped with two fried eggs. We let the yolk erupt over this. This is so good! I highly recommend this item. It’s huge but my husband and I managed to tackle it all.
Drinks: We ordered a sangria and a piña colada. The sangria was bitter my husband could not drink it and opt to join me on the fun with Caribbean piña coladas! Definitely a favorite of mine with and without rum!
Main entree: My husband ordered the Caribbean enchilada’s filled with shrimp. This was very favorable. The black beans were dry and flavorless. We had to ask the server for salt, beside that the plate was good. He also order a side taco of El Chupacabra this taco is amazing I highly recommend it. It comes with 3 different meats, rice beans onions all in one. Like a taco dinner mixed in a taco. I ordered a Taco dinner which included Mexican rice and brown bean’s absolutely no flavor, the tacos you can mix and match 3! I ordered the jibarito with ribeye, Tijuana Birria and the server suggested the sirena. These were a great combo. The jibarito was phenomenal overall flavor exploding with all the hits from an actual jibarito and the garlic sauce made it taste amazing. A little messy but worth it all. The Tijuana Birria taco wasn’t my favorite but it was okay. The sirena was good it has bacon wrapped shrimp with red cabbage, chili aioli and Pico de gallo. I would definitely try these again except Tijuana.
Dessert: We were so full we ordered to go I wanted to try the Oreo churros with vanilla ice cream. This was delicious.
This place is not your authentic Mexican restaurant so don’t come here expecting traditional flavors. They clearly state it’s a Mexican restaurant with a modern twist. I think it’s a great place for celebrations or just a casual lunch/dinner. I included the menu as the one online is...

The server was constantly rushing us to order/re-order- I literally sat down and she was "what do you want to drink". I didn't even have my coat off. No complimentary chips, but a free cup of bland chicken soup. Disappointed you couldn't order ala carte tacos and only the $20 taco dinner- which is a little overpriced in my opinion. Drinks were good, but $15 margaritas are a little steep. Server would print the bill and then we'd want another round of drinks so she would have to re-print. This happened 3 times. At one point she said she was getting sent home so can we please pay the bill for her so she could get her tip. We ordered one more round and then paid. However, we sat there and ate and drank and talked for a long time. The replacement server tried to take our chips and guacamole off the table twice. At 8:30 they raised the lights as a sign to try to get us to leave. Then at 8:45 they turned the lights all the way up and started to vacuum. We got the hint. Yes, we were there for a long time, but for 2 people our bill was $200 after tip (and we tipped well) and we expected better service considering the cost of everything. I should also mention that there were only 3 tables with customers so it wasn't like they were pushing us out to get other people in. Likely...
Read moreMade reservations for 11am for the Rooftop on Mothers Day. When we arrived we were told they don’t open until 11am but at least offered for us to come in and sit which was fine. They offered us a table indoors and I stated I made a Reservation for the rooftop and was told by a gentleman the online reservation he has was for 11am indoors and no one was available to tend to us until 11:30 on the rooftop. We were ok waiting as it was a nice sunny day. When our server came to our table we asked for water and were told we could get it ourselves as it was self serve on the rooftop. What bothered me the most was the next group of people that were sat after us had water served to them. The food was served at a reasonable time but had absolutely no flavor. I ordered a $34 Asada Entree and it lacked flavor. The rice was cool as if we heated from the previous day. 2 of my other guests ordered nachos and had to dig through a mound of lettuce to find practically no meat on the plate. The atmosphere was nice and everyone was friendly. I’d probably go for a night out for drinks and appetizers with friends but probably would not order entrees again. By the way if the Rooftop didn’t open until 11:30 as the gentleman stated than a phone call or an email would have been appreciated and I would have happily moved my...
