The owner came right over to us, which was nice she also checked on us after we received the food. You don’t see that to often where owners are involved with the floor.
How ever we sat for a while without be acknowledged by our server and for me being in the service industry, you should always acknowledge your guest right away, even if you can’t take care of them right then and there. Service in my eyes was extremely slow, she was very nice. I think she might have been a bartender taking tables. It took a while to get two sangrias and to be acknowledged knocked some stars off in my eyes.
The food was mediocre the chicken parm was great the sauce was not enjoyable. It was puréed like a smoothly and seemed like it was dumped out of a can and extremely bland and tasted uncooked. Marsala was ok, but you could really taste the sherry wine, which I prefer not to, chicken was chewy the first couple of bits, then was fine. I am picky when it comes to Marsala I like it sweeter. To be honest I think someone other than myself would really enjoy this dish. The garlic mash was garlicky as in the description. Someone other than my party might really enjoy the food, it just wasn’t for us.
The bus boy was very prompt with his service. He did filled our water glasses so high water spilt all over the table and while filling another persons water at my table he spilt water all over them. I have to say he seemed new he was super apologetic and I was glad to see him working rather then doing nothing. There have been times when it has happened to me, it happens.
My biggest issue giving my review 3 stars was the price of the children’s menu and the way it was charged. My daughter got chicken fingers no fries and a side of penne vodka (vodka sauce is on point). We wanted penne in place of the fries. Well little did I know they charged us for both dishes. $12 for 4 small chicken tenders and $15 for a side of penne vodka. So $27 for a kids meal. I would have told her to just keep the fries. The waitress did not inform us of this, If I was informed I wouldn’t have such a sour taste in my mouth. I just think that is way too much for a kids option. Normal Meals are around $26 and up.
I’ve been here before when it was Osteria Toscana many times and the food was amazing. This time I was not impressed.
I have had the pizza next door and that has always been good.
It is beautiful inside and clean, and they have tables outside which is nice. The atmosphere...
Read moreWe have had TR and Romano many times from Lincoln as we live in Cumberland but we had a basketball tournament in Johnston so it was a no brainer to go their for lunch..My sons pizza was excellent but sadly I would not have another hot plate meal there again..We had Arancini which was so drowned in sauce the Arancini lost it's crisp coating and the made it mushy and the sauce was like warm also it was the last plate delivered after I had to ask where was it but sadly only teenagers where working and we're less than enthusiastic about helping, also a menu was not offered as I was told to read the menu board instead..I had the special gnocchi carbonara, now I've had carbonara a zillion times and this like the Arancini was gross the gnocchi was drowned in sauce that tasted more like Alfredo sauce than anything else, now anyone who has had carbonara knows it's a lighter sauce just enough to coat the pasta and usually has peas pancetta etc this was Alfredo sauce with some gnocchi not at all a carbonara...When clearing the dishes we were asked was something wrong with the food we explained our issue and the waitress said yeah that does look kinda gross and sorry and have a nice day.. Pizzeria romano works in a way where you order at the counter pay first then the food comes so I guess if it sucks oh well.. Johnston is definitely out for me and makes me second guess trying hot plates at the other locations..A word to the wise stick to their pizza unless it's TR Ginger or...
Read moreDon't bother making reservations because they seat "the regulars" first. I made 7:00 pm reservations well in advance for celebratory dinner for a party of four (two of which were elderly). We arrived 10 mins prior to our reservations and we were told our table was not ready and we could wait in the lounge/bar area. After standing and waiting until 7:30, I approached the host desk to check on our reservations and was again told the table was not ready. When I questioned why there were empty tables available and other guest being seating that were coming in after us.....I was told they "have reservations" and your table was still not ready. The hostess then said (referring to herself and two other hostesses) " we are just kids here and don't know when people get done eating and don't know how long it takes people to eat and that's why your table is not ready". Wow.... That's how you treat your guest who are there to spend money. The bartender who was witnessing this moved a few seats around, spoke to other guests and was able to get us at the bar comfortably for dinner. If you don't mind spending a lot of money and get ignored, visit this restaurant. If you want to be treated with respect and enjoy your dinner without a hassle go further...
