Inconsiderate and stubborn owners. I took my mom there who is 65 and battling cancer. As part of her battle sheâs had her entire stomach removed and is still going through a tough recovery but was craving fish on this particular day. She cannot eat very much and more often than not cannot keep food down so every meal is a struggle. Because of this we decided to share a meal.
They offered us a tiny little cup of sauce for an extra charge and we declined. They offered us an extra plate at an extra cost and we said no worries weâll eat from the same plate. When our food was ready they only gave us one set of plasticware so I went and asked for a second set since there were obviously two of us eating (we were the only ones in the restaurant). They told me it would cost extra and I laughed because I thought they were joking. They were not. After I realized they werenât joking I pulled my card out to pay for a plastic fork and they said they couldnât accept my card for such a small transaction, but I didnât have any cash on me. They told me I was out of luck and at that point my heart sank as I looked behind me to see my mother patiently waiting on me to start eating.
Eventually after too much back and forth the lady agreed to give me a fork but made it very clear she was keeping the other plasticware that came with it. She cited being a small business as the reason she could not part with the disposable plasticware but as a small business owner myself I just canât see how anyone would make such a big fuss over giving a customer the necessary utensil to eat the food they just ordered. I understand a lot of people in the community enjoy the food, but that experience was humiliating and heartbreaking to me and I canât support a business that takes such issue with showing even the tiniest amount of decency and care...
Read moreI have been trying to stop by here for a while, finally got a free day for a mini road trip to make the journey out to Katy. It was a weekday about 1 pm and was worried it could be crowded with a lunch crowd, initially I was the only Parton. Fortunately about halfway thru my meal more people arrived. I was greeted at the counter by a British gentleman wearing a black apron flecked by flour. The chalkboard menu was pretty simple, fish and chips plus a few other common British sides. Surprisingly they offer options for the Fish, I opted for the haddock at the suggestion of the owner/cook. You so have to order tater sauce separately or one curry or mushy peas. I chose the tautar sauce to try it. ... While I waited the ten minutes for my order to be made fresh i took in the decor ... Didn't take long ... Definitely not going for the English pub vibe like so many other places in Houston that do fish and chips. .. it really is more about the food than the vibe for sure. . My order came out and it was worth the drive and the short wait. The essentially a full side fillet of haddock. The batter was light and crispy crunched with every bite. The Haddock vass form and well done. The batter was so crispy I could pick the huge fillet and it not droop at all. The chips were chunky and well done with a brown outer and soft potato-y center. Turns out I really didn't need the tautar sauce because the fish was so good. The sauce was excellent anyway . Tart with lots of bits of minced pickles and a hit of mustard. Really one of the best fish and chips I've ever had. Once again this is a strip mall place between nail spas and a bubble tea type business. So no pub atmosphere and no pints of that is what your looking for .... It is fish and chips by someone who focuses on fish and chips . .... It was worth the...
Read moreIâve been here twice and always get a negative vibe. The owners and people who work there are extremely grumpy. Went yesterday ordered my food as dine- in realizing a few seconds later that all 4 tables are occupied. I told the lady at the front that Iâll wait on the side for an empty table while I wait for my food as I need to accommodate my family of 5 which includes 2 high chairs. She said ok. We couldnât sit on the benches on the side bc we needed high chairs which are too short for bench seating. As soon as my food came out a table opened up. A waiter ran up and placed a reserved sign as soon as I was about to sit down. Luckily we had a double stroller so we kept the kids in there and sat at the benches. As you can imagine sitting at a high bench with 3 little kids is not easy. Another table opened up and they placed another reserved sign. They apparently had a birthday party to accommodate - in 20 min. I asked if could sit there and weâd be out of there in 10 min. She refused. She also came running out telling us to move our stroller to the side even though we were trying to feed our kids and it was already to the side. Owner was rude and grumpy. And kept saying âitâs not my faultâ. We struggled to eat at the bench while two empty tables were right next to us. So we packed up left. Overall horrible experience. However I have to say I love their food which...
