So the food is great I will admit, the experience my family and I had was not great. We ordered garlic knots, two pizzas, and 3 sodas and left a tip. Pretty pricey tab, but it was cool. We sat and waited for awhile it was pretty busy so understandable we weren’t bothered. We got our garlic knots, but we weren’t aware they didn’t automatically come with marinara, so we asked the young man and he said “ I’ll have to charge you “ “ but you really won’t need it they are so good”. Well my man left his wallet and I was about to pay, but my guy said it’s ok I don’t need it.
A family came in ordered some pizza and knots and asked “can we get some sauce”? The young boy went and asked our waiter and he came out with free sauces and proceeded to tell them “ if you need more let me know I’ll go get it”
I immediately went to ask so you charge us, but it’s free for them would you care to explain that? Our waitress said yeah I’m sorry that’s just how it is, I said they weren’t charged, younger guy proceeded to lie and say they pre paid which they didn’t cause I was sitting through the whole order.
The optics were giving make the browns pay extra and the Caucasians are entitled to free sauce. He came to “ try to make it right” but the damage was done. I don’t care how good your pizza is we won’t be back again. You lost business over a decision made on some $1.00 sauce that you handed out 3 for free and tried...
Read moreI really wanted to love this place… obviously when you call yourself “New Haven” the expectation is that you’re throwing down some pretty remarkable za.
When I think of the Mt. Rushmore of Knoxville pizza options, Cruze Farms (I know who would have guessed girls in plaid dresses make the best pizza) & A Dopo really stand out. I will always welcome new pizza into my rotation, but I have a good thing going right now and I would hate to mess that up.
Anyway, I went in on Saturday I thought I’d give them a fair shake. It is my duty as the resident pizza snob to support each local pizzeria and at least give them the opportunity to earn my business.
When I say that I wanted to love it, I truly mean it. But this pizza was way too saucy, it was laid on a little too heavy. Kind of like Tiger from 1999-2008. I also wasn’t a fan of how dusty the undercarriage was. I mean I felt like I was in an abandoned storage unit while eating it. Less flour por favor.
That being said, I loved the cup pepperonis. I mean who doesn’t? And the bite of the pizza…. was excellent, hats off to the chef. My man definitely knows when to take that sucker out of the heat.
I truly hope they read these reviews and make some adjustments to the pie. I will give them another go in a few months..until next time New Haven Pizza.....
Read moreI was pleasantly surprised to see this style of pizza represented in my hometown of Knoxville, TN! We brought the whole family, and enjoyed a quiet and cool lunch at an indoor table. The pizza has the typical char and crisp you'd want from a New Haven pie. The sauce they use is probably spiciest standard pizza sauce I've tried, and a few of our kids (who enjoy New Haven style) couldn't tolerate the heat. My mouth was definitely tingling by the end. I think going with a more traditional, simple sauce that keeps the tomatoes prominent, would work better and be more representative of what you get in New Haven. The tomato pie was a bit dry, but both the cheese and margarita pizzas were fresh and vibrant. Tomato pie could have also been dry because we ordered it 1/2 and 1/2; will have to try again next time. Hoping this place succeeds, and I look forward to visiting...
