Great atmosphere; very nice, comfortable and clean. A delicious burger cooked to order, and delivered in a timely manner. The fries were tasty without being over seasoned. Kudos to the unsung heroes in the kitchen!
I have to make note of the friendly and cordial expediter (tall, very young, dark brown, short wavy hair, jeans, dark colored shirt). When not delivering, he was keeping himself busy with bar prep and cleaning. His parents deserve praise for raising a fine young person with a strong work effort! Iām confident heāll do well in life.
I settled on the Scottish ( Export?) Ale, and as a die hard Guinness stout drinker, I was pleasantly pleased; smooth, not too light, not too heavy, no salty bloated feeling or noticeable aftertaste. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Iāve only been this impressed with three other micro brews: Cross Eyed Owlās something stout/ale I canāt remember since Iām old from Decatur AL,; Big River Grillās stout in Chattanooga, Tn, and this Scottish Ale here at Bosque in wonderful Las Cruces, NM (awesome scenery and nice good/polite drivers here!). Thereās probably more great microbrews out there, but I seldom sway from Guinness, and am no way āwell travelledā.
Big āHooah!ā for this ale! (Ask your Army veterans friends what that word means)
I wanted a second one, but all to no avail. Poor, Thirsty me. The inattentive bartender assigned this shift (Bosque near hwyās 70/25) Bosque during my last night in the gorgeous state of New Mexico was preoccupied with their phone. I had three bites left of that great burger, and my glass was taken away while preoccupied chatting with others seated at the bar; not even a glass of water put in its place.
If it wasnāt for a lack of management presence and the inattentive bartender leaving me wanting a second Scottish Ale (we all know the desert leaves you parched), Iād have hit the fifth star, and left a higher than what my math says was 15% ish tip (I took a picture of the receipt). Rather than getting more descriptive, Iāll just say the bartender was wearing blue jeans and red top this particular evening.
To my fellow travelers visiting and ājust passing throughāā reading this trying to decide, donāt be deterred! If you walk in and notice the bartender has their nose in their phone, opt for a table and enjoy great food and brew that is...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI didn't try the beer but wish I had. Was seated quickly as it was after lunch & there were only 2 other tables besides ours. The young lady who waited on us ...well either it's her 1st job, her 1st, waiting job, or she's just dim. It was more like we waited on her. I believe that in the service industry, a server(that's the focus...to serve)should anticipate the needs of the customer. So brings drinks, ask for a straw...brings 1 lone straw, no spoon or straw for the tea drinker. Brings shared appetizers...no plates, brings shared entre, no extra plate after asked for, & no flatware until asked for...maybe bcuz it was all hand & finger food but don't I deserve a napkin? No refill on water, no anticipated refill on tea...prompt when asked. The hummus appetizer, great but not spectacular. The chicken Buffalo ranch sandwich mediocre. Chicken hard, semi dry, very little sauces or ranch...making it unmessy yet dryish. Almost some lettuce...poor presentation really. Fries delicious. So, if I'm a wait person with experience or good training š¤ being on top of the little things is important. Boosting sales such as offering refills, dessert, & upselling beers & ales ...it is a Brewery...these increase the bill which in turn should increase the tipping. So Blondie, yes you with that deer in the headlights stare...get on your game...cuz even if the food isn't that good, the service is what counts for some of us, the opposite for others. Cooks, prepare it like you are going to eat it or Luke you are going to serve it to someone you love. Next...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreEvery time I come to this location Iām disappointed in one way or another. I like the university location because the service and food is way better over there. Iāve been to this location a few times and every time they either mess up my food or are out of a specific beer I want. Last time I went I ordered the chicken street tacos and waited almost an hour for them, and they were cold and gross by the time I got them. They did comp those but the waitress had an attitude about it. This time I called to make sure they had the beer I wanted before driving there and wasting my time because they were out of something else I wanted another time. I showed up within like 30 minutes of calling and they were out of both of the beers I specifically went there for, the honey lavender wheat and mango wheat, both of which they said they had when I called 30 mins before. The university location has been out of the honey lavender wheat each time I try to get it, too. The food at this location is always subpar compared to the food at the university location, which obviously serves the same menu so Iām not sure why their food is not good here. And it always takes way too long to get out of the kitchen even when itās not busy. I honestly donāt ever want to come back to this location. I only go to the university location because of the servers there and the fact that itās close to school, otherwise I recommend TorC...
