Matteo's Mexican Food — Restaurant in Las Cruces

I normally try really hard to not go to restaurants close to their closing time. My friends invited me to meet them there at the last minute. I had no idea what their hours were. I tried to place an order for my sister with her credit card and then with mine. The person taking my order sighed to show that she was annoyed and asked, “Can you please just order it all together because our kitchen is closing?” So I agreed that I could do that. She did end up ringing me up separately, which I did appreciate. The kitchen is close to the place where you order, and I heard her apologize to the kitchen staff bc she and the kitchen staff were annoyed.

I felt really bad for going in around closing time. My apologies for doing so. I normally try to be pretty considerate. I love that I just moved back to Las Cruces and have been excited to eat at different restaurants. It just didn’t feel good having the people there making it very clear to me that they were very annoyed. I have heard a lot of good things about this restaurant. The food seems like it’s good. I was just pretty disappointed by the customer service and how I felt being there. Sadly, I don’t know if I want to return because it doesn’t feel good to be treated like that.

To answer the owner’s question: This was at the Main Street location. I was not aware that it was closing time until the girl taking my order informed me....

I'm leaving this review in hopes that someone will listen. I'm usually a customer at the university mateos. I love your food, I eat there at least once a week. It has been about a year now since the service declined severely at your university location. I'm not kidding when I say the last 10 visits there has been something wrong with my order. If I get flautas my salsa is missing or spoiled, or the sour cream is dry from being left to sit under a heat lamp outside or something. When I get Carne asada fries I like them crispy so I always request them as such but I can't remember the last time they listened to me. In fact last time I ordered fries your employee gave me some Carne Asada tacos. I hate that I can't get my food made right specially for the price. I know you guys are doing well and I probably don't matter to you but Jesus! If I had a better option in LC I would stop being...

Food is pretty good. Had the green Chile enchilada which was hard to find through all the sauce, but Jesus Christ. Literally. Y'all are playing not just Christian music but worship music which... listen. I'm a former Christian. Was going to be a pastor. Of all Christian music, worship music is the worst. It's music that people can sing the first time they hear it. Simple lyrics, simple chords, and not actually enjoyable to listen to. You've gotta play something that's actually good to listen to. Now I've been out of the scene for almost a decade and my taste tends toward rock and metal, but I know for a fact that there are bands out there that are Christian and make good music.
