Terrible Service ( unless you know the chef) Went there 11/2/24 for dinner because of good reviews , LOL! Worst service I’ve ever gotten! Sat at a table next to friends of the chef who came out & sat with them. We ordered one entree to split seeing the size of huge entrees being brought to chefs friends’ table next to us, whereas we were staying @ a hotel & did not want left overs . When our entree finally came it was 1/3 the size of chefs friends entrees @ table next to us. Even skimped on spaghetti with just a tiny bit on our plate which I don’t understand spaghetti is inexpensive no need for restaurant to skimp on a cheap food item. Chicken parmesan was gross! freezer burned taste & soggy w/no taste! Not sure how chicken parmesan had no taste?? Took 20 min for anyone to come greet us & take our order, despite multiple servers attending to chefs friends table next to us. Busser had to take our order for the server who had only 3 tables total to wait on. Didn’t get our garlic bread we ordered until AFTER we finished our entree. Only table of the 3 of us getting good service was chefs friends next to us. 5 Servers in the restaurant with 3 tables could only wait on the 1 who were chefs friends who chef was sitting with. Table tent said “ free gelato” had to go to 5 servers all standing in the corner not working at all chatting with each other to ask for gelato. Was told it wasn’t available. Server Emily couldn’t even return to get our check to pay at the end. Check says “ pay this check by scanning QR code” Was not about to give my Cc info to some 3rd party co. to pay. Servers REFUSE to actually wait on tables lol! ( unless you know the chef) Server Finally came after another 20 min of hanging out behind the bar chatting with co-workers to take my cc to pay. AND I still tipped $4 on $28 check because I’m a server also & don’t believe in not tipping. But Emily did not receive Anything! She literally dragged her feet & shuffled over to our table only to get the check. Busser & food runner had to serve us. Couldn’t even simply refill our water! As all servers just stood & talked in the corner. WORST SERVICE EVER! Manager needs to be aware of this or maybe manager is the chef & IS aware of the terrible service to customers who aren’t his...
Read moreWe are only in Vegas because our flight was cancelled late last night after a long layover and then delays and then cancellation. We found the Ahern and were thrilled because we will leave at 10:30 pm on the same day we checked in. What a nice place to spend our time. We walked around the area and hung out all while just wishing we were home. Leaving soon, my preteen wanted a burger so we stopped at Ottimo. Initially, Elle, was friendly and we were looking forward to the food. Waited for it and when we received the burger and fries and salad there was no ketchup. I asked nicely, “could we please get some ketchup?”. I must have said it in a sing songy voice and then when she was headed to get the ketchup, I believe Elle was unaware I followed her to the counter because as soon as she turned into the kitchen she mocked me, not once, or twice but four times she sarcastically repeated my exact words in an exaggerated sing songy voice to anyone in the kitchen that could hear,in a complaintive way, as if I was problematic. Don’t most people eat ketchup with their fries? As I walked away, I asked her if she was mocking me and she mumbled something. I would never go back here based on the level of disrespect I experienced. It frustrates me that I tipped her well. Such a rude and disrespectful human. Yes Elle, you made me feel bad and my daughter watched a grown woman mock her mother….kudos
I still can’t wrap my head around the why of it all. She was pretty loud about it…. One of the guys in the kitchen glanced over at me through the glass as Elle mocked me- sincerely wonder what he was thinking. All I know is they know how to make a pretty good burger ….but should probably work on their hiring practices.
All we have experienced here at the Ahern is service that goes above and beyond and then this girl goes and bursts my bubble —-not with bad food service just with literally mocking me (I am a 54 year old mother/grandmother that was just trying to get my kid some food.). Thank you Elle for ending our misadventure with your...
Read moreRecently replacing Marc Sgrizzi's 6th restaurant in the past decade Trattoria by Chef Joel will soon be reformatting inside the Ahern Hotel, but on Saturday four guests sat down for a look at whats to eat on the tasting menu overlooking an open kitchen.
Not a new Restaurant as opposed to basic rebranding, Joel Ott’s name replacing Marc on the marquis in Ahern’s lobby, it is alongside construction curtains that diners will find tables plus a counter suggesting what looks to have previously been a Buffet.
Familiar with Ott from the Four Seasons, a pleasant man happy to discuss ideas present and future, Trattoria’s Tasting menu features straight-forward Italian Fare alongside “flights” of Wine that see everything described and poured at once with numbering to pair each with a course.
Using a mix of robots and staff to serve, though the counter utilizes Ahern’s culinary team, course one offered a Beets and Burrata Salad followed by Spanish Octopus a bit overcooked alongside crispy Potatoes.
Not sure if the Tasting changes frequently, all items served essentially portioned down from Trattoria’s usual list, the “Chicago-style” Calzone impressed all despite criticism from a supposed Deep Dish expert while the Meatball at its side was crumbly thanks to too much cooking time just like the Cheese on top.
Improved with housemade Pasta, Osso Buco Ravioli reminiscent of Batali’s famous Beef Cheek version, Chef Ott’s Chicken Parmesan elevates a classic by cooking it extra thin and crispy beneath vibrant Tomato Sauce also served atop Rigatoni.
Surf n’ Turf to finish, Prime NY Strip and Wild Shrimp prepared Scampi-style each cooked flawlessly, Dessert may not scream “Trattoria” but it is nonetheless successful with Carrot Cake and Sticky Toffee Pudding both better than most in Las Vegas and Irish Cream Chocolate Mousse Cake an...
