Edited "Great job Joseph Gordon!!! Your non-comment will help us a lot to improve our operation. Shame on you."
Wow. With a sarcastic response like that, I can't tell if you actually wanted feedback. You're partially right, I should have waited until I had time to type this out. So, I'll give it to you now that I have time.
My stop in was last Thursday afternoon/evening. I was in a group that sat out in your enclosed patio area. When I sat down, your waitress gave a drink to my friend who was already sitting. I was ready to give a drink order when I sat down, however she just walked off and did not care to acknowledge me. A few minutes later she came back and I asked for a beer. A few more people from our party showed up. We said our orders would be split and we each gave our order. I ordered the "Tapas Platter". I read the description but was not sure what to expect. Given I'm in Northern New Mexico, I expected a somewhat Spanish version. After about a half hour wait, our food started to come out of the kitchen. I received a hot platter with a few different types of cheese (that were partially melted due to the hot plate) and two small piles of prosciutto and two small piles of soppressata(? couldn't tell), coupled with a small pile of lettuce greens (which were wilting due to the hot plate), chunks of mushy tomatoes (marinated in something?), several slices of toasted baguette, and all drizzled in Balsamic vinegar. A far cry from what could be interpreted as a "tapas" plate. A more accurate description would be a charcuterie platter, though I don't suppose it would include half-melted cheese, soggy tomatoes, and wilted lettuce. A friend ordered the Macaroni and Cheese which looked like a bowl of liquid cheese with half as much rotini (as macaroni) in it. Another dish was the Pulled Pork Sliders, containing with what looked like twice as much coleslaw as pork. After receiving our food, we were basically dismissed for forty-five minutes, I had finished my drink and was never asked for another. One member of our group had to leave, got tired of waiting, and had to go to the bar to get his check. Our waitress eventually showed up and everyone had been finished with their food for at least fifteen minutes, we asked for our checks, separate. She showed up about 10 minutes later and gave one check to one one of the members of our group. Another member of the group had to go to the bar for the check after being tired of waiting. Surely, after 15 minutes since asking for our check, mine would show up? No. I had to go to the bar and ask for my check, as well. I can't complain about the price of the food, because everything here is expensive, comparatively speaking. However, every dish I saw looked unappetizing, and mine was not good. I didn't stick around to complain because I never saw our waitress until I got my check and I had to leave. I've been told that the owners of Cottonwood on the Greens are one in the same as the Pajarito Brewpub. I truly cannot comprehend how there can be such a stark difference between the two. Pajarito has great food and amazing service. This place is seriously...
Read moreIn another review someone stated, "Service is always friendly but food can be REAL hit or miss and they're pricey for a place with food quality that variable (I once paid $19 for a "medium rare" steak that was pounded down to less than a quarter inch and cooked to within an inch of being leather. The potatoes were good, though). Go for a beer or a drink after golf. Not great for much else."
Your response was, "Just for your information all our steaks are cut and weighted in-house. Find me other place in Los Alamos that charges $19.00 for a 10 oz boneless steak. Thanks anyway."
I had the same experience as this reviewer, in addition to everything on our plates arriving at our table COLD. I actually stuck my finger into my mashed potatoes and they were cold all the way through to the plate, there was no hint of warmth at all. The waitress was gracious enough to take our plates back to warm them but by the time I got my (slightly warmer) meal back, my medium rare paper thin steak was well done and dry. My response to your response is, first maybe you should quit picking fights with people who give you bad reviews and actually try to improve. Second, a BAD $19.00 steak is MORE EXPENSIVE than a good (thick, juicy) $26.00+ steak. I'd rather pay for the good $26.00 steak and enjoy my meal than wonder why I paid so much for a bad meal. Evening was ruined, won't waste my money...
Read moreI would never recommend dining at this establishment. The food is barely passable as food. Everything is boiled with no spice whatsoever. When my friends and I had dinner there we were seated right away,(maybe because it was dead). One of my friends had the Pasta with sausage and fennel. I had the salmon Beurre blanc grilled salmon, another friend has the Duck l"orange. How do I begin.....The pasta fennel dish was awful and weird, a bowl of pasta packed with what looked like boiled fennel cooked until it was mush. It appeared gray in color and not appetizing at all. The Duck L'Orange was a sad tiny dried up piece of duck served alongside and huge lump of mashed potatoes. Most of the plate taken up by the potatoes. The salmon had no flavor, when the plate came it looked and tasted like something from Furr's cafeteria. The vegetables were just boiled to death with no spice at all. It is pretty clear that they know nothing about good food or they just don't care. I did give them a few more chances and I can safely say that nothing they serve is good. They seem to use the cheapest ingredients available. It is by far the worst restaurant in Los Alamos, which is too bad because it is in a...
