This is one of the few massively disappointing restaurants that I've been to. I can't recommend anything. Everyone in my family got something different and no one enjoyed anything. We were all very hungry when we sat down to eat and we left most of our food uneaten. In my case, it was way overcooked. I had the chicken and biscuits. The biscuits were burned, the chicken was dry, the pickles were bad, and the maple glaze seemed non-existant. It wasn't worth sending back because I had no faith that it would come back any better. My daughters sandwich was incredibly dry and basic and made incorrectly. My other daughter's hamburger was overcooked. The fries were edible. The service was very bad, the restaurant was fairly slow, so we were seated very quickly. Once seated, we had to wait 20 minutes to have our order taken. It took 30-40 minutes to get our food. Our server didn't check on us once to see how the food was after it arrived. When he eventually made it to the table we asked for the bill, which took another 15 minutes to get. They weren't busy and a lot of the staff were just standing around. We left over half of our meals uneaten and we had to pick up a pizza on the way home.

They are located on the historic corner of Hollywood & Vine. This is one of the closest restaurants to the Pantages Theater. We had passed by many times in the past year when going to shows at the Pantages Theater. I remember seeing huge birdcages around the tables however they are no longer there. It has a nice open space. Very cool staircase but it’s blocked off at the top for renovations. There’s a huge bar and bar seating. They have an unspecified added fee of 5% , which even the server couldn’t explain what it was for. But, it definitely was NOT for a tip. We both ordered the 33 Taps burger for $16 each. There were no pickles on them (according to menu, it’s supposed to have it) but lots of melty cheese, that looked like it was cooled off a bit and not hot gooey. The caramelized onions were nice. There’s an extra $4 charge for bacon and $4 for fries, which was not very crispy or hot. Fries are not usually a separate charge. But, this burger ends up being $24 PLUS that added 5% change. Taste wise, it was okay. Temperature wise, it was warm, not hot. That’s a lot for an okay burger and okay fries.

We thought we were going to the Italian restaurant but stayed even tho it’s Birdcage and they haven’t changed the sign yet. We were seated right away and the server was at our side immediately to take our drink order. My kids both ordered the pesto Mac n cheese and I got the Mediterranean salad with chicken. They only had one order of the Mac n cheese left, although they had only been open for an hour. My son got the steak sandwich, which he said was ok, just not what he wanted. My other son loved the Mac n cheese. I really liked my salad, but the $10 extra to add chicken seemed a little extreme. My son got a drink, which was tasty but small for the price. They brought my son a birthday ice cream, which would have put us in a diabetic coma if we had eaten it. It was way too sweet, but we appreciated the gesture. My only real complaint was not having enough Mac n cheese, and charging $10 for a few slices of chicken for the salad.

I had 2 reasons for the 3 star review. First was the pricing and 20% service charge. The prices were pretty high. $27 for chicken and biscuits. $15 for a Mac and cheese fritters appetizer. Pricey but we're talking about Hollywood and Vine so ... Location, location. The restaurant is a "no tipping establishment" and they add a 20% surcharge to all orders which "isn't a service charge or gratuity" but is, instead, a surcharge so they can provide their hourly employees with better wages and benefits. And then on the check is a space for a tip (what happened to no tipping)? I get it.....the minimum wage has gone up drastically in the last few years. I don't know what the answer is but I don't like the answer this restaurant has chosen. The second reason for the 3 stars is the food. The Mac and cheese fritters was a 2" square of deep fried Mac and cheese, cut diagonally and plopped in a red pasta sauce. Weird combination and very average Mac and cheese. The chicken and biscuits was 4 pieces of chicken (2 of which were over cooked and dry) and 3 small biscuits. Barely average. If you're going to charge premium prices the food should be...

This was our second visit to this restaurant and both times the service and food were disappointing. The Chardonnay bottle we ordered was served warm. We asked for a wine bucket and it took ten minutes. My hamburger meat was cold, dry and and overcooked. At least the fries were hot. My wife ordered a chicken BLT. The bread was burned, the chicken was overcooked and dry. The sauce on the sandwich was way to much. Messy and lacked flavor. The Ceasar salad was decent, but it was served with so much cheese on top you could barely see the lettuce. We wanted to let the waiter know but he finally came back to our table way to late. Also noted was the bathroom was absolutely filthy with toilet paper and empty toilet paper rolls. The sink was filthy and here's the kicker. We were one the first customers in restaurant at opening time of 5pm. We went there after a performance at the Pantages theater. Obviously the toilets were not serviced from the previous day. If you want a crafted cocktail there are some interesting selections. Too bad this restaurant can't get its act together. It is a at a prime location of just a few steps from...
