My friends and I came to dine in after getting off work. The wait wasn’t long and the server had us order before the table was even ready. When we finally sat down I noticed a hair in the food before he started to cook it. He didn’t believe me and even grabbed the hair and asked, “are you sure.” Then proceeded to just set it aside and keeping doing his thing. Didn’t offer to make us a new dish or at least take the cheese off which had the hair. He did his little show of burning the cheese with a torch (looks cool but the food will taste like gas) and NEVER came back. We had to wave someone down for drinks. No one touched our table afterwards but all the other tables were getting great service. While half of our table was still eating one of the servers walked by and THREW the check at us trying to push us out, unlike the other tables that got her after us. A different server came over to pay us out and when we pressed no tip he immediately said, “No tip, you tip cash then.” Just assuming we owed tip. The reader said “1% tip for complaints” so we did, we left $2 and as we were leaving the female server chased after my group and yelled at us. “ONLY TWO DOLLARS, WHY?!?” So I let her now she threw the check at us and I had found a hair in the food. She gave lame “sorry” and walked off. The audacity of the lady chasing us demanding more money like they didn’t completely ruin our night. I promise y’all the food is not worth the treatment…$237...
Read moreA friend and I came to this restaurant after a full morning, and we were quite hungry. We decided to give this place a try because of the positive reviews I'd read on LA Eater and The Infatuation online.
The dining room was perfectly comfortable but not fancy by any means; fine for a casual meal. While our waiter was perfectly competent, I did find his manner a bit on the gruff side.
We made short work of the banchan, which was made up of four types of kimchi, bok choy, green onion, turnip, and a small dish of jalapeño and onion on a light soy sauce. All perfectly fine.
I was a little disappointed with the sul rang tang (with a variety of cuts of beef) that I ordered. I'm originally from NYC, and was a regular at couple of sul rong tang restaurants there; and after moving to LA, generally found that when i order sul rang tang in LA, the amount of soup, meat and noodles you get is about half the size of the bowls one typically gets in NYC. But that wasn't the biggest issue, which was the broth. It isn't as richly flavored as the broth one gets back home. Given the reviews I'd read earlier, I was hoping the broth here would gave a stronger beef flavor, but i found it was generally on par with the sul rong tang I've had here in LA. I'm still on the lookout for sul rong tang as good as what I had in NYC.
My friend got one of the spicier soup options. He was perfectly happy...
Read moreMost of the ox tail soup is a bit greasy to me, but the nice part is they give green onions, salt, and pepper for you to adjust the taste by yourself. The main problem is the service, one of the worker with glasses and cap are so rude, and the his attitude is like you own them money. In the beginning, my girlfriend ordered a spicy ox tail soup, due to most of the dishes are sold out or didn’t serve that day, she has less options to choose. After 2 minutes, we found out the soup contains beef intestines, which my girlfriend couldn’t eat, so I ask the server to change it to normal spicy beef soup. The sever replied to me: I already ordered it, and send it to the kitchen which feels like he’s not willing to make changes for me, and want us to eat the food that we don’t like. At the time, I was like it just nearly two minutes after the order, what are being that mad for? After that he’s shouting toward his colleagues (seems fighting) that all the customers in restaurant got influenced. In short, the food are nice and delicious but the workers attitude have to make some adjustments. I feel like I’m having dinner in a jail, and the warrant tells what you supposed to do. Whereas, I have to be fair, this store closed very late like till 3:00 AM, so it’s suitable...
