I wanted to give the place more than 4 stars, but less than 5 stars - that’s no possible in the current setting, so gave it a 5 star!
I have had the privilege to dine in a number of restaurants in Memphis but let me take this opportunity to say that Maximo's on Broad is a diner's delight. From the outside, the place might look like any other diner joint, but as soon as you enter the premises, you are embraced with an overwhelming gust of coziness. The quaint and dim lighting sets up the stage for a perfect and quiet date night and omg did I mention the coziness? Our hostess Lori instantly developed a connection with us as soon as we walked in by referring by our first names instead of a sir/mam (other restaurants take note!!!). Let me tell you they have an amazing collection of cocktails and for the uninspired, they also have local brews on draft. For our appetizer, we ordered the brandied shrimp from the tapas menu. The amazing texture of the dish took us by surprise with its sharp yet delicious sweet notes. For our main entree, we ordered the seafood paella and the chef's special Pescado Maximo (made with market-fresh fish of the day). The seafood paella, made with an assortment of mussels, shrimp, and scallops, is just the wholesome dish. The seafood stuff were fresh and plenty. The Pescada, on the other hand, topped with a bold lobster reduction and amazingly crispy yet soft veggies, flirts with your taste buds like an ardent lover who entices you in her stunning charms. The fish quality was absolutely top. In conclusion, I would like to reinstate that with its cozy charms and its bold flavors, this place just stands out like a proud monument on...

The experience at Maximo's begins with its name - it means "the greatest" in Italian. The menu is not Italian, however. I can't quite pin down the genre of the food. New American with a touch of Latino flair?
We did brunch Sunday.
The host greeted is with a smile and pep in his step.
The sweet young lady who served our table was sure to find answers to all of our menu questions.
I saw about five items I wanted to try. Yes! My chilaquiles did NOT disappoint.
I love the variety of the menu. I suppose it appeals to most taste buds because the menu is wide-ranging.
I love the new decor (it's the former 3 Angles Diner). The food has always been good and the same owners are running Maximo's.
This restaurant is perfect for the emerging Broad Avenue district. On a lazy Sunday, I implore you to visit Broad, stroll along the road and visit the clothing stores and other eclectic venues. You won't be disappointed.
Also, be sure to check your Memphis Flyer and Commercial Appeal listings. There is always an event going on at the Broad Avenue Water Tower.
I can't wait to see what happens to this budding...
Read moreMy husband and I will never go back to Maximos. I ordered a well done filet, which is how I always eat my steaks. The filet was riddled with fat. In fact, I couldn't find one bite that didn't have large strands of fat in it. However, I wasn't going to send it back because I filled up on the side dishes. When the waitress asked why I didn't eat the steak, I told her that it was quite fatty, but not to worry about it. She took my plate back to the kitchen, and a few minutes later the owner/manager came out. She said that the steak wasn't edible because I ordered it well done. I explained to her that I eat my filets well done all the time, and that the problem was not the way it was cooked, but that it was a bad cut of meat that was full of fat. She was extremely rude and proceeded to argue with me!!! I've never experienced such terrible customer service in my life. I've told everyone I know not to go to Maximos. There's no excuse for that kind of rudeness. On another note, the waitress...
