I'm doing this review a little differently. Instead of waiting until the end of the trip, I’ll update it daily as I experience something noteworthy. ||Day 1|First impressions are very nice. It’s a cool little boutique hotel in a nice part of Coconut Grove. The lobby was slightly odd, as the first "counter" you see is a pastry counter. Just past it to the left is the front desk. The service is very friendly and attentive. The woman at the front desk was quick to check me in, with an upgrade (yay), and offered me water and a Bellini. I took both! The only issue was I had to fill out information on an iPad with details I thought they’d already have—address, phone number, email, etc.|My room was on the first floor, which I thought was fine, but the view was a little low, as I realized when I went to the Bellini Restaurant on the top floor. Not terrible, but I’d definitely ask for a higher floor next time. The room itself is very nice—modern without being cold. It features a nice wood desk, dresser, and closets, an impressive minibar, and some snacks. There are also sunglasses and hats, which can be purchased. A neat touch I've never seen before. Even a foam roller in the closet shows great attention to detail. There is free and paid Wi-Fi; the free option seems fast enough for Zoom and everything else I need.|I was hungry, so I went upstairs to the Bellini Restaurant. Like the front desk, the service was excellent. I had a chicken sandwich that was very tasty. It came with fries, which were great—actually, some of the best fries I’ve ever had.|I had dinner in my room: a different chicken sandwich (name forgotten) with tomato and avocado. Very good. Tiramisu for dessert, which was very good as well. The service again was excellent.|The fridge in the room is full of alcohol, so it’s hard to fit a water or other drink in there. This is the only negative I’ve experienced with the room so far. ||Day 2|Had lunch in-room today. Cheeseburger with fries. Very good, and, as usual, the service was excellent.|A quick issue was resolved by the front desk. The service here really is impressive—everyone seems genuinely interested in helping you have a great time at the hotel.|Found one small negative: the TV is not on a mount that swings. It would have been nice when sitting on the couch, but it’s not a major issue.|Something else that was a little weird is that the Wi-Fi kicks you off after 24 hours and requires you to re-establish the connection. Not a big deal, but it’s something I’ve never experienced at other hotels.|Just got a courtesy call from the front desk asking how my stay has been so far and if I need anything else. They also asked when I was checking out and if I needed any transportation. Very impressive service.|Had dinner, which was the club sandwich and some beer. Great, like the last meal and service. ||Day 3|Check-out was quick. The way they had me view the receipt was quite nice: on a leather-bound pad of some kind. They asked a few questions about how much I enjoyed my stay, if I needed transportation, etc.||I really enjoyed my time here and highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a nice place to stay in...
Read moreThis is the second time my wife and I stayed at Mr. C Coconut Grove. The first time was about 5 years ago for a wedding. Mr. C was relatively new at that time so we gave them a pass when it came to the mediocare service. We ended up staying here again for another wedding. Upon arrival we were greeted by friendly staff and the welcome drinks were a nice touch. Upon entering our room, we paid for an upgraded view room and it was just a view of the church across the street and the slightest view of the bay. The room also smelled awful like BO. The smell stayed in the room the entire time. The noise at night when trying to sleep was very loud, you could easily hear people walking around/coughing/throwing up in the other room. To top it off, we were trapped in the tiny elevator with about 15 or so people with no cell service for over 20 minutes! The front staff handled this very poorly. They never called the fire dept, we finally got through on our own dialing via SOS. You could clearly see on the cameras we were trapped and most of us are now traumatized by this experience. After the fire dept got us out, NO ONE, not one manager was there, no one with waters or apologizing to us. In fact they made us go down the service staff stairs in order to not disrupt the event going on at the time. Just atrocious response to a very scary situation. It was finally asknowledged by the front desk during check out and eventually they gave us a $200 credit towards our bill. To me this does not suffice the damage this has caused both me and my wife along with the other guests. There was never a follow up phone call or a personal management staff apologizing to us upon check out. It just seemed considering the severity, we were just simply brushed off and no one showed they cared. Overall, for such a reputable brand, this was a huge let down and I have lost my faith in the...
Read moreThis hotel is everything you would want a boutique-style Miami hotel to be.
First Impression: The lobby is modest with a small coffee/cocktail bar which opens onto a lush outside seating area. The hotel offers valet parking available for patrons with a vehicle and a bellman to assist with your luggage. The front desk associates were pleasant, knowledgeable and accommodating. I requested a room change due to a booking error on my company's part and the team handled my request effortlessly. The overall feel of the property is that of entering an upscale yacht, paying homage to subtle nautical style without being tacky.
Eating: The food at the restaurant, Bellini's, gets a chef's kiss! I would highly recommend a reservation for dinner as it is normally pretty packed. We had the pleasure of eating here on several occasions, once for breakfast and twice for dinner. Much like the hotel, it is quaint but has a cozy bar to mingle through and open, airy views of the Bay. There is also an outdoor deck which offers additional seating.
Rooms/Accommodations: The rooms were spacious and exceptionally clean and the bed was comfortable. There was a small mini bar and the hotel staff hand delivered bottled water to the room nightly.
Two minor notes: During our stay, both elevators broke down and guests had to take the stairs. Not a huge inconvenience but guests were led down stairwells that seemed to be used as additional storage. Also, the touch-up paint job on the hallway walls does not exactly match the existing wall color, leaving them appearing splotchy.
Overall, this is one of my top picks in the Coconut Grove/Coral Gables area. It was a pleasant stay, with an extremely walkable location to all things Coconut Grove (restaurants, bars,...
