So having ate at El Turco last week, we decided for our eid al adha dinner we would go to Oliva which is also by El Turco.
First of all, the service by our main server was okayish a combination of standoffish and lacklustre.
The food was okay although I think the food at El Turco was better. They are virtually 1 min away from each other in the same complex. We ordered the aubergine mezze which was good. For mains we ordered the kebab platter which consisted of an adana kebab , chicken shish taouk and slices of doner. All was good although I had more ofnthe chicken. My husband did say the adana kebab was salty than necessary. The platter came with bulger and 2 different types of salad. Overall, food was good.
The restaurant was busy and the setting of the restaurant was unique. Like an indoor al fresco setting. There was music playing in the background but maybe the restaurant needs to revisit what type of music they play. I don't think cheesy 70s & 80s soap opera songs suited the vibe and decor ofnl the restaurant...at one point they played the theme song from Love Boat !!!
Overall, you could see diners were enjoying Oliva and people were ordering the desserts which unfortunately was not to my taste.
Our bill came to approximately £70 including tax and service charge . My husband wanted to order a mocktail, but we were told that there was only one choice and when prompted our server said he did not know what went into the mocktail as the bartender did not disclose the ingredients. My husband decided not to order.
Nothing exceptional about the food, the food was like anything you can order from a standard Turkish restaurant. But the setting is unique and the atmosphere is nice for dining save the service of our...
Read moreThis business is despicable. The owners, or whomever they entrust the Google Reviews with because their English is not capable enough to write cohesive sentences, despise anyone and everyone who criticizes their restaurant, their service, their prices, or their food. They will even use pathetic tactics such as putting a red note on their responses that looks like it's a warning from Google, but in fact it is not. They will take and praise all of the positive fake reviews written by their friends and family who have never visited their restaurant, but will instantly dismiss any legitimate negative reviews as fake. Shame on you and stop being so defensive about authentic reviews written by authentic people who dined at your restaurant. Where in the restaurant industry book does it state that any dissatisfied customer must take it up with the management right there and then? Your restaurant has greasy food, prices are beyond expensive, it's loud, and the service is horrible as many people have stated. AVOID EL TURCO...
