I found this place online on my last day in Minneapolis. The weather was perfect the entire weekend, but on that Monday it was really drab and a bit windy. One of the reviews mentioned that they have really good hot chocolate. I don't know why, but that sold me lol. Upon arrival, no one was at the door (the place wasn't packed at all), but when the hostess spotted me, I was seated quickly. They have a really great selection of breakfast items. There were quite a few things that I wanted to try, but I asked my server because usually know more about the food and the people's choices. The server highly recommended the Puerco Picante and Mexican Skillet. I opted for the former, but was later told they were out of pulled pork. She then recommended a new item, Fried Chicken & Biscuit. I hesitated because often times (unless it's a Southern restaurant) the chicken isn't seasoned so the meal is not tasty. I shared with her that I'm a Southerner and why I was skeptical. She told me that she'd ask the kitchen to put a lil extra season on my chicken and I happily obliged. I also ordered the breakfast potatoes, grits, bacon and, of course, some hot chocolate. I can honestly say, the hot chocolate was delicious. I would've ordered one to go, but when my Fried Chicken & Biscuits arrived I couldn't believe how big the portion was. It was HUGE! This is definitely a dish you should share. I give it a 5 out of 5. It was beyond delicious. The breakfast potatoes were fried too hard for my liking and the grits were horrible, but I think it's a region thing. I think Southerners cook and like their grits a certain way. And that's understandable. Thankfully, my server forgot to put the bacon order in because I couldn't eat one other thing. I couldn't finish my Fried Chicken & Biscuits. I tried, but it was just too much....what a good problem to have. I noticed that as I sat trying to finish my food, more patrons arrived. My server was really nice but not really attentive. I had to call her over to get some more water. But that doesn't take away from my experience, she was really nice and helpful. To management, keep the Chicken & Biscuits in the menu and perhaps, even offer a ½ portion. This is a MUST try while in Minneapolis.

Nice all around breakfast and great service at a reasonable price. Came round the downtown for breakfast and a nice walk. There is some great newer architecture in the area. The very colorful parking ramp is quite expensive... $20 for just over 2 hours or something like that. In our week's theme of trying some new cuisines for our anniversary, I found that this place had bagels and lox. One of the top breakfast foods on my "haven't tried this yet" list. I ordered this and a side of fruit with a latte. They were out of all flavorings but hazelnut, so I went with that. My wife ordered a (huge!) Gyro omelet with eggys potatoes and toast & lemonade. Lox is a brined salmon with salt, dill, liqueur, and sometimes other things. Can be similar to smoked salmon in my research. Eggys serves this as kind or a build it yourself adventure with all ingredients on a plate, with individual portion cups of cream cheeze, fruit, and lettuce on the side. The fruit I thought was my extra side I had ordered, but no, they delivered more fruit a minute later. The lox and bagel was good, though it did taste quite similar to smoked salmon here. My first time, so not sure if they use true lox or just smoked. The latte was rich and foamy. The fruit was plentiful, pinapple, grapes and honeydew was a good mix. It is seasonal, so probably changes a bit. My wife said the potatoes were the best breakfast potatoes she's had, and would have happily eaten an entire plate worth of them. Omelet was really large, 4 eggs. Gyro meat and feta is a salty combo, but was done well, she said. Service was great here, some of the best we've had on our restaurant tour this week. My wife had a friendly chat in Spanish with one of the servers, even. Thanks for a wonderful breakfast in a beautiful part of downtown!

We visited Eggy's for lunch today. Let me start by saying they are a really cute restaurant with a good amount of tables for larger and smaller groups. I truly think we visited them on an off day. We were told they were down a server but I think there may have been some kitchen issues too. Given all the good Yelp reviews I was pretty disappointed by the overall experience. Our group included five people and we each ordered different entrees. For what we reason, I think the kitchen had a lot of issues because other tables food came out before ours and ours took nearly 30+ minutes to come out. One person at our table didn't get her waffle until almost the end of our meal which wasn't very good. Lastly, another person at our table found that the inside of her pancake was still raw batter. The waitress took 50% off her entree and also provided another pancake for her to go free of charge. While that was a nice gesture, the experience was just underwhelming. I ordered the breakfast poutine. The cheese curds were more like GIANT mozzarella balls (like the size of a golf ball) that were REALLY overly salted. I mean they were super, super salty to the point I found them inedible. The french fries and gravy combo was really good. The fries were hot and crispy and the gravy had good flavor and seasoned well (not too salty). The eggs I ordered over easy were quite well prepared also. I don't know why they do these giant "cheese curds" and made them so salty? But I was willing to look past it. I ordered a cappuccino as well and was kind of disappointed because it was really tiny and didn't feel like it was worth the $4+ dollars. Overall, I'd say it was a 2 star experience but because the waitress was really trying and did her best to make some things right, I bumped it to a 3 star review.

Our server Alex made this visit an incredible experience. He made us feel like we were the only people in the restaurant. Alex seems like just a natural human ball of sunshine. He took time to show my sons how the orange juice machine worked, and got my somewhat picky daughter to try something new. I never met Alex before, but when he brought the table a whole carafe of coffee, I felt like he knew me all my life, as I love coffee as if it was one of my children. BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE... The food was DELICIOUS. I order the Breakfast Poutine and split it as it was huge. We had the Crunchy Nutella French Toast and it was the right balance of chocolate to pb and french toast, and crunchy and the banana reduction sauce...all balanced. We had the Nutella Crepes as well, and I love only homemade crepes usually because restaurants tend to make them too sweet. Not the case here. I have no idea how Eggys gets this fruit so fresh and perfect, it's like they literally picked the most perfect strawberries and bananas and gave them to us. Sausage and bacon all excellent taste and cooked to perfection. Obviously the oj is as fresh as you're going to get. Again on the coffee- I don't order coffee from restaurants usually because I am disappointed but Eggy's coffee is on point. It's fresh, balanced in taste, and strong enough for me but not too strong for my family members who are a little less caffeine dependant. Sad we didn't take more pics of food but it was scrumptious and we were starving. Alex, they should clone you... Thank you for sending us off with coffee to go cups and giving us the best first impression of Minneapolis. ☕

Came to the diner from Baltimore, staying in MN for a short stay, and it had a segregated vibe. I hate to make this racial but I was informed by the host that on the weekend, you have to pay before you are seated. The host walked me to the register and had me skim quickly through the menu to order (as if I was on a game show, pressured to order). Im so glad I saw the menu before I decided to eat there. I ordered, was then seated and served my meal. I then watched an array of older white couples come in, be seated, served water and handed a menu for them to take their time and order. Since I had my camera, I recorded a few people walking in and being seated, served water and handed menus. I had a friend (German white woman met the night before) walk in by herself, who the host initially sat across the room from me. The woman then spotted me and took her menu, walked over to me and sit with me. The host looked confused as if she never would have imagined me and her (German friend) together. I will say the food was good, presentation was on point, the servers were friendly and the service was very fast. And I will say, I did see the host have 2 to 3 other people (mainly the people who came alone) adhere to the same process I had to go through for ordering. Not sure if the process only applies to unfamiliar people but for the most part it was definitely segregated, being the majority of people did not have to pay first before being served.
