My mistress sits across the table from me looking satisfied and beautiful. Her Geisha Lips roll is gone but it looked almost as delicious as she does tonight. I did the Marilyn Monroll and I'm still sitting in shock even as our waitress, Jeanette, takes away our plates. As if I jumped out of a culinary plane, the adrenaline still coursing through my palate, I'm now sitting on the ground thinking back to the excitement. "How did everything taste?" Jeanette asks, waking me from my reverie. I try to explain about the buttery flavor of the scallops I've only ever heard about on cooking shows and how it melts into the creamy avocado only to give way to the shrimp and crab but it comes out broken and mixed through the adrenaline. My mistress is snickering along with Jeanette as my dreams of becoming a food critic plummet to the ground, chute apparently as broken as my description of the food. After our waitress leaves there's nobody else on the patio so it's almost like we've had the whole restaurant to ourselves for 90 minutes. We've had a wonderful private conversation filling each other in on everything that's happened since the last time we met but all good things must come to an end. As Jeanette brings back the check for me to sign there's a disappointed look on my date's face that says she knows what I'm about to say. The drinks were good, the service was great, the food was amazing and my mistress has never looked so radiant. "Are you ready to go?" I ask. My wife nods sadly as we slip our wedding rings back on. It's time for us to go get our kids from the...
Read moreOh Miki's....you sure do keep things interesting. My fiance and I eat here quite often and not one experience is the same. A few things that change regularly...the ice tea (it seems like every time I order it, the flavor has changed...its delicious every time but still), the size of the rolls (sometimes I get 5 pieces to a roll...or like last night, I got about 10 (and the pieces are the same size)...makes a huge difference because I never know if I need to order 1 or two...isnt there a standard size that they were trained to make?), the timing of service (sometimes we get our rolls in 10min and other times it takes 45min...you'd think you'd wait the longest on a busy day...not always the case), miso soup (during the dinner hour, you're usually greeted by your waitress with a bowl of this delicious soup...but sometimes you arent...?)....the list does go on. I will also add that the last few times we have been in there have been pretty embarassing for me...I'm not sure what they use to clean their floors (soda pop maybe?) but it leaves your shoes very sticky and everyone knows (and stares) when you go to leave. I also don't like the fact that you smell like deep fried food when you leave here. All in all, I do love this place and will continue to eat here for as long as this place exists...I just wish someone in upper management would see some of these comments and maybe make some much needed changes...take a hint from a customer that does see the good in you and will continue to...
Read moreFirst of all, our server Stephanie was awesome right from the beginning. Very friendly and upbeat, made sure we were taken care of, just all around great!
The food here was also delicious! We got the fried oysters and man, were those the absolute best fried oyster I've ever had! They tasted fresh, not overly fishy or dried out, just the perfect amount of breading. We also ordered the takoyaki, which was what we initially were both craving and came here specifically for, since the menu lists them. Stephanie told us they actually don't offer them anymore but managed to locate some for us anyway and they we also so delicious!!
For entres, we ordered the ramen and something called nikuyaki, I think, which seems like a Japanese version of fajitas. It was supposed to be spicy - it wasn't - but in spite of that, the flavors of the sauce, chicken, and a surprising variety of vegetables was heaven. The ramen was hot and flavorful and spot on, as well.
We will definitely be going back! We were...
