Our family of four (male 42, female 28, children 2)Visiting from out of town (Louisiana) for Hurricane Francine and this restaurant popped up as one of the highest rated Korean BBQ restaurants. We ordered thinly sliced pork & short ribs with shrimp fried rice for our kids. The shrimp fried rice was abysmal having been made with frozen vegetables that were soggy and flavorless. With the Korean BBQ option they offer lettuce, kimchi, seaweed salad, tofu, bean sprouts, bean paste, garlic sesame oil and kimchi radish. We ran out of the previously mentioned items halfway through our dinner and asked that they all be refreshed. Our server ignored our request and never returned until we saw her passing by our table again. Upon our second request for the side items that weren’t refilled our server argued that we had received a refill of those items, stating we’d be charged for them but once she realized we hadn’t received them she stormed off while shouting towards who I would believe is the manager/ owner. Once we received our SECOND serving of those items, we rang the service bell again telling them we hadn’t received our refill of bean paste, garlic sesame oil and lettuce wraps. These items were served by the perceived manager/owner. While he was there we asked if we should expect a second serving of the proteins we’d chosen and in a rude and sarcastic manner he told us “ It’s not all you can eat” while walking away from us. We both were deeply offended by this remark and response to a simple question which worsened an already lousy experience. We finished our meal, rang the bell to receive a box for our kids food and asked for the check. After we received the check we noticed a 15% service charge had been added, we asked the manager if that was the gratuity to which he replied “yes” while once again walking away from us. This was deeply offensive and demeaning since their menu clearly states gratuity is automatically added to parties of 5 or more. As people who work in the service industry we know and are always happy to tip 20% or more having knowledge of how underpaid most servers are. We did not contest the request for the 15% gratuity and when prompted to add an additional tip we left it blank. Never in my life have I experienced such degrading “service” I do not recommend...
Read moreWe've been coming to this restaurant over the years with multiple trips to Maxwell AFB but now we live here and visit when we're in the mood for good Korean food. I want to like this place more for the food but the service has been questionable the last few times, worst tonight which prompts this review. We've lived in Korea and DC and look for great service and Korean food wherever we live.
We're a family of 5 and were seated next to the kitchen. When we asked to sit in a booth a little further away, the waitress told us the grill on the table was broken. Somewhat satisfied with that answer, we ordered BBQ anyway at our table thinking the grill was working only to be surprised when the servers brought out a portable gas stove for our bbq.
My husband asked why we couldn't sit in a booth and someone who appeared to be a manager came out and seemed inconvenienced by our request. We didn't tell him that the waitress told us that the booth was broken when we originally requested a different table, and he seemed annoyed that we asked well before the food came to the table. He ended up accommodating us and told the other servers to move us but I think it didn't have to get that far if she just didn't flat out lie about a broken grill that was never intended to be used anyway. We started to really wonder why some guests get the quieter private booths when others get the kitchen table or less private tables.
I should add we went to dinner early on a Saturday (5pm) and the restaurant was no where close to capacity or busy with the amount of staffing (and call button procedures) in place when we went. Also should mention that for our family of 5 (including 10y, 8y, 1y) we had a service charge of 18% added to our bill, which I'm confused by considering the service was lacking from...
Read moreMy wife and I went to this place last weekend and it was off the chain and down the street. The service was superb and they treated you like family there. We ordered the potstickers which were very nice size and very tasty. We also got the chicken bulgogi which came with lots of stuff to mix with it. The lady that works there even came over and mixed mine for me like my mom would have done. Very nice touch. My wife got the vegetable tofu soup and it was super delicious with lots of flavor. You get your own nice little area that has even curtains that you can draw so no one can see what you're doing. You have a cooker at the table so that you want to cook your own meat you can. They have a selection of beers and rice wine. I can't say enough about this place you just have to go check it out for yourself. Be sure to check out my pictures below cuz I took a lot of them. They also bring you out about six different sides that you can add to your plate or you can just eat by themselves cuz they were delicious such as the kimchi and kimchi zucchini seaweed and a few other things. Very...
