Long story short, I tried it twice, this place won't get the opportunity for a third strike. People from the northeast that don't know what good BBQ is might like this stuff. Typical BBQ for the northeast, not particularly good. Everything in this place needs sauce to make it taste good or make it moist enough to eat. If you need to put sauce on it you are not eating good BBQ. Ribs have the membrane attached (that is just plain lazy!) and while meaty not particularly tasty and dry. The brisket is super fatty and a little bit "pot-roasty". The turkey is a little dry and way over smoked with a completely unnatural dirt brown color all through, it seems like they sliced it and then boiled it in liquid smoke. (Yuck!!) The cole slaw, while crisp and crunchy, was pretty tasteless. The MacNCheese was pretty decent. I don't know which Old School Willie Jewel attended but I'm pretty sure he skipped a few classes.

Good BBQ from a chain? Yes! WJ’s definitely “punches above its weight”, at least at this location (which is supposedly the only one located in the North). I ordered a full rack of ribs to go and was surprised by the quality and portion size. Nice smoke ring - check! Fall off the bone tender - check; though I prefer a bit firmer myself, they were very tender without the bones pulling completely out (which likely means they don’t steam them, or at least only minimally as a finishing step). Good dry rub ‘bark’ -check! Even the house hickory sauce was on point. Have I had better ribs? Of course… but again, from an unassuming spot and setting expectations that this is “semi-fast casual” restaurant effectively in a strip mall type setting, I’m walking out of this experience quite impressed and ready to put this on the regular rotation.

First off let me say I have been to many, many BBQ joints from Austin to Taiwan. You can search all my reviews. Anyway ... This place looks nice when you enter. Employees are very nice. They answered all my questions. I ordered 1/2 lb brisket and sausage. My wife had pulled pork with mac & cheese and cornbread. The brisket and pulled pork were dry with very little smoke flavor. The sausage was tasteless. The cornbread was a rock, we had to ask for another. I had to clean the toilet because it was sooooo nasty. If I didn't have to go so bad, I would have had them clean it. Anyway, when I cleaned it I could tell it hadn't been cleaned for days.

As a barbecue lover, I was excited to try out Willie Jewell's Old School BBQ in Nashua, NH. My expectations were high, but I have to say that my experience exceeded them in every way.

From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by friendly staff who were eager to help me navigate the menu. After some deliberation, I settled on the pulled pork and brisket, both of which were highly recommended by the server.

The food arrived promptly, and I was blown away by the quality. The meat was tender, juicy, and flavorful, with a perfect smokiness that was not overpowering. The pulled pork was especially delicious, with a melt-in-your-mouth texture that was simply heavenly. The brisket was equally impressive, with a rich, beefy flavor that had me going back for more.

What really stood out to me about Willie Jewell's Old School BBQ was the attention to detail. The sides were all perfectly cooked and seasoned, with just the right amount of spice and flavor to complement the meat. The mac and cheese was creamy and decadent, the collard greens were perfectly cooked, and the cornbread was sweet and moist.

The atmosphere of the restaurant was also fantastic. The decor was rustic and charming, with plenty of seating options for both small and large groups. There was a real sense of community and warmth in the air, with diners chatting and laughing over their plates of delicious food.

Overall, I have to say that my experience at Willie Jewell's Old School BBQ was truly awesome. The food was outstanding, the atmosphere was inviting, and the service was top-notch. If you're a barbecue lover like me, do yourself a favor and check out Willie Jewell's Old School BBQ in Nashua, NH. You won't be...

Willie Jewell's offers excellent food at reasonable prices!

Their customer service leaves much to be desired.

I called in an order and was told it would be a 45 minute wait. I arrive at the establishment just after the estimated timeframe and was told I had to wait a little bit longer, understandable for a busy restaurant. 20 minutes go by and I inquire about my order and get ignored by staff. I ask again 10 minutes later and again I am ignored. What should have been a roughly one hour wait turned into a two hour wait without any care or concern for the customer.

I had emailed one of the listed owners of the restaurant, Mr. Chartrand, about my visit. He was kind enough to explain the surrounding situation in the kitchen and offered to mail a giftcard to me for the unpleasant experience. I accepted and sent him my address.

Two weeks go by and I had yet to receive the giftcard, so I send another email asking Mr. Chatrand if it was sent or if perhaps the giftcard was lost in the mail. Three more weeks have passed, and I have not received a giftcard nor a response from Mr. Chatrand. I can only assume I was lied to.

To say I am disappointed would be an understatement. I hope they shape up their act.

Edit 5/19/2023:

Over two months since the initial complaint I have finally received the gift card. I am glad to have it but I am incredibly miffed at how long it took.

Once again, Willie Jewels offers great food at reasonable prices. However they lack customer service and punctuality both in and out of...

Been looking forward to the opening every since the "Opening Soon" signs went up. Worth the wait. Went on a Saturday around 5pm and apparently the word is out ... and the word is great (well very good at least)! Don't expect much in the way of ambiance ... think fast food with a bar area and you wont be disappointed. and they need more seating!!!

Tried the corn fritter appetizer and that was very tasty. Made up for the lack of cornbread (Is it just us northerners who expect corn bread with bbq ? ) . The pre packaged dressing/dip was a minor turn off but it went well with the fritters.

Had the 3 meat sampler: ribs/brisket/sausage. Ribs were meaty, tender and not fatty ... hard to get all three right but they did! Not overly smoked but you can tell it was there. Brisket was equally good. Sausage , hmmm, it was good but it did taste a lot like Kielbasa to me. The sauces were all tasty .... about 4/5 that you can try . Sides ... had the collards greens and they worked for me. Green beans were tasty but way over cooked.

Oh ... and they had a few decent craft beers on tap. Just enough to make me happy. Too full for dessert ... next time. And there will be a next...
