I made my husband pop in here because weâd never normally turn down a good donut! He wasnât too jazzed because we were getting ready to eat dinner, but we just put them in the carâ even though it was hot out. Anyway, THESE ARE THE BEST DONUTS I HAVE EVER HAD. PERIOD. the place has an amazing atmosphere, and we were greeted with warmth and kindness upon walking in! We have had a few âcraft donutsâ before, and weâve both kind of been put off by them. Theyâve seemed overdone on toppings and flavor. Donut crazy doesnât fit this category. When they say they have a cake batter donut, it literally tastes like cake batter, but not too overpowering. Iâm so glad the young man working there told me it was his favorite, or Iâd have passed it over! These are just the beeâs knees. I could go on and on, but you get the idea! Just go! You wonât regret it! Iâll come back with pics of the actual donuts, as theyâre on my hubsâ phone. (Not the cake batter one though⊠it didnât make it⊠lol.)

Donut crazy is just that crazy....Hella' expensive and beyond overrated! The donuts can either be a hit or miss. I heard so many good things about this place, that I had to try it for myself and dabble into this donut experience. LOL Little did I know I would be disappointed; I went in and thought I was in a donut, bakery heaven due to the endless choices and didn't know where to start. I read the sign and somehow misread the misleading prices. I didn't really understand that there was a difference in prices depending on the donut you picked; the "specialty donuts" are way more expensive then the regular, basic ones. Either way I ended up with 10+ "specialty donuts" and a few regular ones on the 2 occasions I went. It cost me each time close to $40+ just for a dozen donuts đđbut, I still paid the hefty price and couldn't wait to bring them home and enjoy with family. - The donuts in-total were not good! Don't get me wrong, the regular donuts were delicious, but nothing more special than any other donut place!! The specialty donuts were topped with stale cereal, stale cookie pieces, stale candy bar pieces and gross fillings....Nothing on/in the đ© was fresh. I would have been better off buying a frosted donut from Dunkin and putting toppings on myself and save a sh*t load of money. Don't waste your hard earned money...You'll be very disappointed! The owner is rude as well!! SMH

I've never actually set foot in Donut Crazy, but have had two of their donuts that were purchased for me, so my review is based purely on the donuts themselves and not on the store or the customer service. The first one I had was a maple bacon donut. I am a fan of anything maple flavored and am disappointed that Dunkin donuts no longer serves their maple frosted donuts. So when we talked about this place and someone mentioned maple donuts, I was completely on board! My favorite thing about this donut is the toppings. My least favorite thing about this donut is the actual donut, which puts me in a tough situation. The donut itself was dry and tasted more like simple plain dough than a donut. There was no taste to the donut, and it made my mouth feel very dry. I happened to get a second donut on accident. The donut was purchased for someone who was not in school that day, so it was gifted to me instead. Absolute same as before, way too dry! This one was a cannoli donut, and I actually had to eat it in several sittings because the toppings were absolutely way too sweet for me! At a price of almost $4 a donut, I'll wait for someone to gift me another before I try another.

Massive size donuts with the craziest mixture! For me, these size donuts were sharing potion size. I just simply could not eat the whole thing myself. Ordered a dozen and got 2 free donuts, which was nice. Roughly $40-ish for a dozen but I think the size justifies the price per donut. My favorite were the ones with filling because even though the outside of the donut was hard the next day, just microwave it for 10-15 seconds, makes the filling and the outside soft and warm. My least favorite was the red velvet surprisingly. Sounds great on paper, but quite the opposite when devouring. Didnât really taste like red velvet to me. They offer beverages there too, but Iâm so disappointed I didnât get one before leaving. Wouldâve been nice to have a hot drink with a donut. Overall, the place was very cute. I would come back and perhaps try dining in the next time where I can also enjoy a beverage.

It was my first time on 11/03/2016, I walked through the doors and the staff was very courteous and patient when I asked about each and every individual donut and what it was like the donuts are definitely more than a mouthful. T hey say that they have 40 different varieties I'm not quite sure about that but no matter. What they have is definitely more than enough I tried the apple spice cake , the apple donut , the blueberry crunch , the pumpkin pie , the Boston cream and the cannoli. There is a caveat which is , a regular donut which they call a daily costs $1.75 and the ones that are called crazies are $3 and 75 cents. Honestly, this pastry has girth and is very sharable. Simply cut one in half and share it, both parties will be satiated. It's Finally nice to have a gourmet donut shop in downtown New Haven!

short summary: be wary of overcharges The first time I came here I ordered a glazed donut bacon, egg and cheese sandwich and was overcharged a dollar (some sandwiches cost a dollar extra to replace the bread with donuts). I brought up the issue with a manager and got refunded immediately. I returned a week later, ordered the same item, and was overcharged again by a different employee. When I raised the issue this time, though, the employee refused to take the $1 charge off, though the posted menu clearly states the correct price; I was in a rush, didnât want to escalate over a dollar with people waiting behind me, and ended up just eating the cost. The food is great and I donât want to raise a fuss over a dollar, but was frustrated by inconsistency / inflexibility in policy between employees.
