Wowww!!! What a GREAT!!! Restaurant! What a great find! Definitely one of the best Indian restaurants that we have been to. The service was outstanding, so attentive, so friendly and welcoming, they make you feel at home. The servers were super attentive, they recommended some dishes according to what we liked.. which was very helpful! Especially when I’m not too familiar with Indian dishes’ names.
Now, the food was OUTSTANDING!!! We ended up getting the raj kachori, the chicken handi lazeez, garlic naan and the lamb chops. The lamb chops were to DIE FOR! Absolutely a must try! They are seasoned so well with the perfect amount of spice. The chicken was absolutely delicious as well, it came in a broth, kind of stew, with a bit it spice as well, so so good! The naan was exceptional and crisp, super fresh! The little onions on the side are definitely a great addition to balance the flavors of every dish.
Now, I’m not really a dessert person BUT!!! The desserts are to die for! We tried the white little milk balls with pistachios (I can’t remember the name) and also the round brown deep fried little sweet balls as well (I’m so sorry I can’t remember the name either!), they were so so tasty and full of flavor!
The chef Ram came out to the tables to check on the food, which was a great special touch. All of the servers were so attentive and helpful!
The ambiance was great as well, calmed for a Sunday night perfect for a casual dinner with my husband.
We’ll definitely be...
Read moreThis restaurant is the worst I've ever been to. If you want good food and good value for your money, do not go there!! We went because it had good reviews, but we were very disappointed.
The first two chicken dishes we ordered tasted okay, but the portions were way too small, not worth the price. The cocktails were poor quality but very overpriced - double or triple what they should have cost.
Then we got our main courses - naan, chicken curry, and goat curry. The taste was below average and there was hardly any meat. Both the quality and quantity were the worst I've ever had.
On top of that, the service was terrible. The manager and servers, who were also from South Asia like us, gave us very little attention and were rude and arrogant.
Yet they automatically charged us a 20% gratuity on top of the already overpriced bill and taxes, which we did not want to pay at all after that experience.
It was one of the worst dining experiences ever. We wasted around $300 but didn't get decent food. The seating area felt cramped and uncomfortable too.
We absolutely hated it. For the same low-quality food, we could have paid just $70-80 elsewhere. This place must be for billionaires but even then, the taste does not match up at all. A completely biased and unforgiving...
Read moreWe were wondering around the UES looking for a nice spot to have dinner.
We came across Javitri and after a short glance at the menu, we decided to give it a try - what a great decision!
The host was incredible, helping us get a sit outside and walking us briefly through the rich menu while recommending different items and explaining everything we needed to be further explained. We ended up taking the passion fruit Pani Puri, the Samosas and the Bokhara Dahl, which is their special recipe for Dahl Makhani accompanied with a garlic naan.
OMG, the food was brilliant! Perfectly seasoned and amazingly cooked!
The Pani Puri was uniquely made, with the restaurants own recipe for the "pani", which was nothing like I ever tasted (after visiting India numerous times). The samosas were fried to perfection and the filling was great with a beautiful taste of gharam masala. The Dahl was amazing, so smooth in taste and texture and it went great with the garlic naan which was the lighter option compared to the rice we originally thought of ordering (also a great recommendation by our host). We pared a wine with the Dahl which went along great with the food.
All in all, we came out of this dinner more than happy and we are already planning our next visit -...
