This halal hand-pulled noodle spot makes their noodles fresh for each order! 🍜 At @OldsportFood Noodles, besides their signature Lanzhou Beef Noodle Soup… I also tried their spicy Braised Beef Noodle Soup and Da Pan Ji (大盤雞) “Big Plate Chicken.” To me - their noodles are all amazing… but the Da Pan Ji still makes my mouth water as I type this 😂 📍Old Sport Noodle (67-03 Austin St, Queens, NY) • • • #handpullednoodles #chinesenoodles #nycfood #newyorkcityfood #foodvlog

Old Sport Food is the sister restaurant to the halal Tangy Noodle in Manhattan and it’s tucked away in a very quiet side of Austin St in Forest Hills, Queens. The space is no-frills but oddly very comforting, which are the best places tbh. I went here when it was 20 degrees and it felt great to just sit in there with a bowl of delicious noodles steaming in your face. Like I said, the right vibes are just there. ‼️DISCOUNT‼️: Mention MuslimFoodies and get 5% off your in-store order by 2/21. Old Sport, an unassuming eatery tucked away in Forest Hills, Queens, is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. This establishment specializes in authentic Xinjiang cuisine, a regional style of Chinese cooking celebrated for its bold flavors and unique dishes.

The menu at Old Sport is a testament to the rich culinary heritage of Xinjiang. Featured dishes like the Beef Noodle Soup and the Xinjiang "Big Plate" Braised Chicken are a must-try, offering a delightful explosion of flavors that transport you straight to the heart of Xinjiang. The hand-pulled noodles in the soup are cooked to perfection, and the tender beef is braised in a fragrant broth that is both hearty and satisfying. The "Big Plate" Chicken, a signature dish of Xinjiang, is a feast for the eyes and the palate, with succulent pieces of chicken and potatoes simmered in a rich, spicy sauce.

The restaurant's commitment to authenticity is evident in every dish, from the appetizers to the main courses. The Leek Pancakes, for instance, are a delightful prelude to the main event, with a crispy exterior and a savory filling. The Lamb/Beef Skewers, cooked over an open flame, are another highlight, offering a smoky, charred flavor that is simply irresistible.

Even the seemingly simple dishes at Old Sport are executed with care and precision. The Cold Noodles, for example, are a refreshing and light dish, perfect for a summer day. The Braised Egg, a humble yet satisfying dish, is cooked to perfection, with a creamy yolk and a tender white.

The ambiance at Old Sport is unpretentious yet inviting, with simple decor and friendly service. The staff is knowledgeable and passionate about the food, always ready to offer recommendations or answer questions. The prices are reasonable, making Old Sport an excellent value for the quality of food and service.

In conclusion, Old Sport is a true culinary treasure, offering a taste of authentic Xinjiang cuisine that is sure to delight and impress. Whether you are a seasoned foodie or a curious newcomer, Old Sport is a destination that deserves a spot on your culinary...

OldSportFood – Delicious but Pricey Experience

I recently visited OldSportFood, and I chose this spot specifically because it’s Halal. Walking in, the restaurant itself is fairly small, but cozy enough to enjoy a meal. Ordering was done through a kiosk, which made the process quick and easy.

My bill came out to $78, and here’s where I want to give everyone a heads-up: the prices can feel steep. A can of Sprite was $3 and a bottle of water was $2—so definitely pay attention when ordering.

Once I sat down and started eating, I noticed the B rating on their window, which honestly was a bit shocking. But despite that, the food turned out to be really good.

Now, let’s talk about the food because that’s where OldSportFood really shines: • Lamb Skewers (4 pcs): Absolutely fantastic. Perfectly seasoned, juicy, and grilled just right. Easily one of the highlights. • Dumpling Soup (10 pcs): A must-try. The dumplings were soft, flavorful, and the broth was rich and comforting. • Braised Beef Noodle Soup: Tasty and flavorful, but I was disappointed in the portion. It had way too much broth and not nearly enough noodles—definitely something they should improve. • Stir-Fried Noodles with Lamb: Another winner. Well-seasoned, generous with vegetables, and had that authentic, hearty flavor you want from a stir-fry. • Chinese Burger: A nice addition to the spread, flavorful and satisfying.

Overall impressions: The food quality was excellent—bold flavors, well-prepared dishes, and nothing tasted bland or rushed. On taste alone, I’d give them a 9.5/10. However, the pricing vs. portion size is where they lose points. For the amount of food served, the total felt overpriced, which makes it harder to justify coming back regularly.

Final Verdict: If you’re after flavorful, Halal-friendly Chinese dishes, OldSportFood is worth checking out. Just keep in mind the B rating and the price tag—the taste will impress you, but the value might not.

⭐ Food Quality: 9.5/10 ⭐ Value...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Old Sport Food, a small but exceptional halal restaurant located on Austin Street. Despite its size, the quality of food here is truly outstanding. I ordered the Beef noodle soup, and it was nothing short of amazing.

The Beef noodle soup is a labor of love, crafted with care and tradition. It starts with beef bones, simmered for hours alongside aromatic spices and herbs, to create a rich, hearty broth that forms the soul of the dish. The beef is slowly braised until it's incredibly tender, and the soft, tender noodles absorb the broth beautifully. To top it off, they offer a homemade hot chili oil that adds the perfect kick to the soup, enhancing its depth of flavor with a fiery yet balanced heat.

We also indulged in the lamb skewers, a dish that exemplifies authentic flavor. These skewers are made by marinating the lamb in a blend of cumin, chili powder, and other spices, then grilling them to perfection. The result is tender, juicy meat with a smoky char and seasoning that leaves a lasting impression.

What sets Old Sport Food apart is not just the quality of their dishes but the evident love and passion that goes into every meal. The staff are extremely helpful and nice, further enhancing the dining experience. If you're looking for a spot that serves top-notch halal food with warm and friendly service, Old Sport Food is...
