Probably the best salad chain in town. There are many salad places, but few actually make a really good salad. (Old, wilted lettuce with chicken that looks like it came from Duane Reade? No thanks.) Sweetgreen sources ingredients locally when possible. Some are even organic. Plus, there is a large selection of carefully crafted combinations and seasonal specials (both of which I prefer to the "make your own" option). For example, for Thanksgiving, they had a salad with roasted turkey, Brussels sprouts and cranberry salad dressing. Oh, and prices are very reasonable, averaging $10-13.
Tip: use their app, and 1% of your bill goes to SG's charity. If you visit the Columbia location, 100% (that's right!) goes to the charity.
As for this location, it is actually one of the nicer ones because of its large eating space, and the neighborhood is really lucky to have something so nice to replace the disaster that was there before it. They play loud music, though, and the shrimp in the "rad thai" salad was really odd tasting when I tried it here (as if it had been washed in chemicals), which I hope was just a fluke. Even though this is a self-service place, it should be noted the salad makers are very friendly and do good work.
A quick note on my rating scale: 5 stars = exceptional food & service; 4 stars = excellent food & service; 3 stars = decent to good (top-of-the-line for fast service restaurants); 2 stars = mediocre; 1 star = not...
Read moreI felt compelled to write a review after visiting this location tonight. I’m a loyal customer to sweetgreen and visit various locations throughout the NYC area 2-3 times a week. I visited this location tonight and was completely shocked by the service. To be honest I was down right upset!! I ordered my usual greens with toppings and asked for chicken for the protein. The girl scooped the chicken and shook half of it out of the spoon and then put it in my salad. Being that that was clearly not going to be enough protein for me especially going there after the gym I asked for another scoop. To which she said it was going to be extra. I agreed and she did the same thing again shaking half of the chicken out of the spoon prior to placing it in the bowl! When I brought this to her attention she stated that was the serving size. I remained patient and calm and continued as I told her I wanted light dressing. While she’s mixing the dressing in, chicken is falling out the bowl and ending up in the table. I also brought this to her attention and she gives me an attitude replying “you want you salad mixed don’t you?! Well then, Things are going to fall out!” She could have easily offered solution or an apology rather than an attitude. Disgusted I stayed silent just paid for my food which came out to $17.96!!! I never been charged that much at sweetgreen!!! Definitely won’t be visiting this...
Read moreAVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS! I ordered online for the fish taco bowl and paid over $20 for it and it arrived with no fish. No reasoning for why, no contact to let me know, or any way to resolve this issue. I was just given a bowl with no protein. I paid for the most expensive protein and i got nothing. I was so sad and disappointed in the service especially since I lived far away from this location. I walked all the way to this Sweetgreen location and showed them my bowl with no fish. They said no fish today and that was it. I asked well is there any other alternative? I paid for this protein. She said she had chicken and tofu. Nothing else so i went with the chicken, she scooped a tiny amount of chicken and put it in a bowl. Why not more chicken? I paid for the fish protein which was the most expensive protein! I was stunned speechless. The lack of service, the uncaring staff, and the minimal adjustment makes me so upset and frustrated. This was my first time trying this place out and i was excited to try it out but this disappointment will reverb to all my friends and colleagues. Truly awful and disappointing place. Do not go, go anywhere else for...
