I like to visit a new place at least twice before I give a solid review. This is a cute little pizza place next door to a neighborhood laundry facility. There is plenty of parking space on their shared lot. They have an outdoor patio section if you prefer to eat outside. Inside there is a bar and maybe about 4 or 5 tables for seating. They have a brick oven right upfront so you can see them cooking your pizza. Now this review is based on a visit from Sunday november 17th and sunday November 24 so same staff, same cook. The times are similar. The first visit I tried the Vampire pizza and pepperoni and sausage. You will see that photo with 2 pizzas. They were fantastic!! Hot fresh. The sauce was amazing and the topping were great. The service both times have been wonderful. The ladies there are kind, patient and will describe any food or beer related questions. The first time i had a groupon included 1 pizza and 2 beers around 12 bucks. What the groupon does not say, is that it's a personal pizza about 10 inches or maybe i overlooked it. So if course if your going with someone you will have to buy another pizza which is around 12 dollars. So your really spending about 25 bucks if it's a date. They also let me sample the beer before i made a definite decision. I am not a beer drinker so I went for a lighter stout per waitress suggestion. Of course I attempted to replace that beer with a soda first before ordering the beer, but I believe the waitress said they only served beer. The second trip I went back my pizza was pretty burnt on the bottom. The pizza was made pretty different but the same person made the pizza. Due to the burnt taste the second trip was a bust. I did get this order to go due to having to get to work. I didnt not get the chance to call due to being unable to utilize my phone until my lunch break and by then they were closed. Overall the service is great, food is decent, I suggest eating there in case u have any issues they may be willing to quickly fix them. If I go again and have a similar experience as the first time I will update this review with more stars. But due to have great food the first time and un-ediable pizza the second. My review is placed smack...
Read moreWe tried Good News this afternoon and, unfortunately, there is no "good" news to report. The establishment is intermingled in a residential area and is connected to a laundromat. But that's not a big deal. Heck, the lack of attentiveness by the staff isn't even the big deal. The main issues come right off the "menu". There's really nothing on the menu! You can't create your own pizza and the options provided are nothing to write home about. They STILL do not offer any non-alcoholic beverage other than bottled water. HOWEVER, and I thought this was actually a joke at first, your server will inform you that you can walk to the laundromat or liquor store across the street, buy a soda, and bring it back to your table...WHAT! If it hadn't been for my wife's patience, we would have walked out at that moment. What sort of pub, bar, restaurant doesn't carry an assortment of beverages and instead tells you to go elsewhere to buy your drink but make sure to come back? And how difficult is it to remedy such an issue? Buy some canned beverages or 2 liters until you get a fountain machine? On to the pizza. There were 2 adults and 2 children in our party. BTW, this place says kids are welcome. We ordered 2 pizzas. When they were delivered to our table they came on cheap paper plates and with 1 napkin. We received no additional plates but were given 3 more paper napkins. WOW! The pizza is the size of a cheap, flimsy paper plate and costs $8. It's ok pizza but not worth $8. Check out MODS pizza for a quality pie. On to the beer. Very limited choices. I went with a brown ale. Again, nothing special about it. It was good...but way too many other issues with this place. The atmosphere inside is blah. The music playing overhead was on the lines of depressing...very slow, melodic tones that make you want to take a nap. Just nothing about this place that makes you want to go back. I would wait at least another month before even considering checking this place out. If the reviews over that time period reveal major improvements, then check it out. If not, go to a more prepared and legitimate...
Read moreI've been coming here off and on for many years since O'Fallon was my hometown and I respect bringing a craft beer joint to the place. Before the multiple locations, Good News O'Fallon was a fun bustling joint with great service. My last two visits have been very poor and it has become difficult to justify spending money at this location. When inviting friends or family, they would prefer to head to St. Charles or Defiance where the service/pizza is better.
One particular night we were the only ones in the place (oddly on a Friday) and all three of the staff were goofing off in the back instead of waiting on us. The soap spigot in the bathroom was in the sink and it was just a mess. It clearly shows that this location was forgotten.
Both of these times our pizza was burnt past the tolerable level of wood-fired appreciation. When mentioning this to staff, they didn't even seem to care or offer to replace it with pizza that wasn't completely black on the bottom.
I like hitting the laundry next door for super large comforters and other items that don't fit in my device at home. It's convenient to just grab a beer while waiting. This place can do better or consider closing to focus on locations...
