The location is a bit odd, sandwiched in between a Famous Hair & a Lane Bryant in a suburban strip mall. The space itself is nice, with a roll up garage door up front and a fairly roomy patio. The draft beer selection features a good variety of styles, and also showcases a lot of local/regional/state breweries. Prices for draft and to-go beers are above average, especially the packaged beer. I no longer live in Boardman, but visit a couple times a year, and would usually stop in for a beer or two and maybe some beer to go. However, the last time I was there I had a very negative experience & will very likely not return. When I arrived, there was one other person in the bar (it was a weekday afternoon). The bartender did not bother to say hi, ask if I had questions, ask if I wanted a sample of something, etc. It was as if he had no clue that he worked in the service industry. Then, while drinking my first beer, I got to listen to the owner tell an in-depth tale to another patron (I guess a friend of his?) of how he fired the manager recently. Pretty unprofessional, and probably a conversation best had in private. Next, while perusing the bottle selection, the owner continued his conversation without once stopping for five seconds to ask if I had questions or needed help with anything. He was less than 10 feet away from where I was. It would have required zero effort on his part, but his conversation with his buddy was more important, I guess. Needless to say, I didn't buy any beer to go. Lastly, when I closed my tab, I noticed after the bartender ran my card that he had overcharged me a dollar for one of my beers. Rather than offering to fix it, he just said, "ok." I don't even care about the dollar, but his indifference was extremely off-putting and further demonstrated his lack of customer service skills. If this is the kind of customer service I can expect at the Causal Pint, I can take my business elsewhere. Vintage Estate is right down the street, and I know I'll always be treated to exceptional customer service there. And they always have a better tap...
Read moreMy significant other and I were checking out Boardman, Ohio as a possible place to move (we can't take the hot weather in the south, and we miss snow... go figure). While searching for a classic "bar and grill," we found Casual Pint. What a disappointment! The bartender didn't greet us when we sat down, didn't offer us a menu (we had to ask for one... and got only one), she was unhelpful in advising/suggesting beers, didn't check with us about the beers or food we ordered, and used her cell phone several times while customers stood at the bar waiting for service. We ordered a French dip and the loaded sidewinders (thick curly fries). The meat on the French dip was definitely not sliced beef, and the au jus was grease. The beer cheese on the fries was globs of cold cheese. We are pretty open-minded and give places a second chance, but someone will have to give a resounding plea for us to ever go back to Casual Pint in The Shops at Boardman Park. I would give it zero stars if that was...
Read moreOk, today my family and I went in to the restaurant. Having never been there before, we seated ourselves and assumed someone would be over. To make a long story short, the 2 people working there NEVER acknowledged us. And to be clear, there were 4 patrons at the bar, our table of 4 and 2 girls outside. I can tell the girl who we mistook as the server was also cooking. She served the food, but never checked on us or the patrons at the table. Like ever! Bartender, was a joke. He should have been the first line of defense at any sort of customer service. He also vacated his spot behind the bar, so asking for the waters we had ordered 10 mins before took even longer. Bottom line, who ever the two that worked in the afternoon on July 20- need to be trained. We tipped overtipped, 12%. Should have been far less but we’re not complete jerks. Please, if they had actually communicated with us, instead of standing and ignoring us I wouldn’t have written a review. It...
